please could someone tell me what head this is....

number on it is 90090541

its had all the usual head work done, now, i am hoping someone is gonna tell me i could fit this onto a 1600 block with a good gasket....will it?

few pics below....head has had a fair chunk skimmed off it.

also, where does it say on the gearbox if its the a cr on not (f13).
going on fron that, got a group a diff with the bigger side gears, is it gonna be better t put it in an F13 or an F15? will be next yr before i can afford a straight cut kit. (it will be for gravel event)

Gary c - i have a code here off the box, 02122 c374, im hoping the 'c' stands for close ratio

Engine wise, want to build a screaming 1400 8v. mainly cause the head,cam,4-1, 40s and inlet etc is sitting. ( ideally id go 16v to be competitve in class)

whats the thoughts?

anyways, sticking to the original plan, whats the best block to mate my head too. someone will know whats what....best to go for uprated pistons etc etc? if this was your engine build what would you do?

all thoughts and advice welcome.

Angus

Just get a C14SE engine and start there. I would think the std SE head would be better than what you have there. Also what is your budget?

surely my head with it being ported and polished etc etc wud be better than standard? money wise....every penny i have. my problem is time, i have to go work every to get the funds! i was hoping lots of people were gonna give me their opinons of what to do. im a believer in doing things right first time, if its best to sell the head etc and go 16v then i will. Im gonna be doing rallying and want a motor that i can be very competitve in. another big fact is my gearbox, i was gonna build an engine get it running good then spend the money on a gearbox. only got a grp A diff for the mean time. whats ur suggestions gary?

also is that gearbox code a close ration box?

thanks gary, your advice is appreciated!

SE has round ports and bigger valves in std format.

CR box is usually C394 or C374 the number refers to the diff. do 8V and 16V run in the same class?

mines is a c374, so close ratio yes?

im not actually sure to be honest, i have that many bits for an 8v i think it would be sensible to stick to this. reckon the best bet is to go 1600, this will be in the class with all the 205s doing the 205 eccose rally championship.

some people tell me to stick my head on a 1600 block otheres say dont....

should have just bought a complete car ready to go!

Best to decide what class you want to run in and go from there. The rest will be down to how much cash you can throw at it.

imho, I'd stay in the sub 1600 categories as the 1600+ stuff has mega cash thrown in and you will never be competitive :(

BigRuss used to run in the 1600 class but dropped to the 1400 class with the same money spent on the engine and absolutely kicked ass
