Nova Gsi Oil & Temperature Guage Question

Hi, I've just bought a 'K' reg Nova Gsi,
it's in very good condition, I have a question regarding two of the guages,

firstly.....

TEMPERATURE, where should the needle be pointing
for the ideal running temperature, if I let it idle from cold,
it goes to half & maintains that. If I drive it around from start,
it stays on a quarter & maintains that, is this normal behaviour ???

OIL PRESSURE, my oil pressure guage is very jumpy,
on start, the needle goes past halfway, slight tap of the accelerator
& it shoots to full & sometimes past it, during driving it moves about
all over the place, sometimes it does behave & stays in the middle, only increases when revved, then back to normal. Oil level is normal.

temp should stay at 1/4 when driving as thats when the thermo valve sends water to the radiator. if your not moving it will go up to 1/2 then the fan will kick in and bring it back down to 1/4.

oil, well id say u either need a new sensor or you have a loose wire. iv had this same problem so id just ignore it
