Is it right that a typical set of steel rods wont have the same oil way [at the bottom of the rod that feeds into the bearing] that o.e rods do?

i didn't think the oe rods had a hole.....which engine?

No i didint the cranks have a feed but pretty sure the rods dont the steel rods should be a carbon copy of the originals just stronger iirc.

Ok that's fine, but by design H section rods aren't the same as I beams.

The end dimensions have to be the same though.

Do the steel rods also have a shoulder/pinhole on the upper side by any chance? It will be for squirting the underside of the piston. Alternatively if they have little end bearings instead of being shrunk fit they'll have an oilway up to that bearing.

edit: or the reverse of what I just said, just noticed you said the steel rods don't have the hole and standard does if I understand you correctly.
