Struggling past 30 mph

Hi I have just bought a corsa 1.2 16v sxi 1998 i need it just for a cheap run around. when I test drove it I only went around the block and it seemed fine! but when I drove it home it struggles to get past30/ 40mph its juddering and holding back. Any ideas what this could be? Iv checked the oil and there is no water in head or water chamber so im thinking its not the head?? Cheers

could be aload of things.

timing belt jumped/timing out

blocked exhaust

binding brakes

fuel pump

these are just afew things that hav happended in my nova in the past.

its an engine problem for definate not brakes my engine is holding back plus i cant get up hills? i have to be in first gear?
