That's the one! Marcus Plowman took it off the road in 2000 and sold it last year. New owner got it back on the road!
Looks really good, interior looks so clean and fresh, shame about the cracked digi-dash screen though and the cowling screws not being right but its a stunning car and looks ace, are the flares on the wings slightly larger than normal or is it just the way the light shadows them?

Blimey, blast from the past. Very unique car at the time.
Nice to see it return.
Nice looking car but why is it badged as a Lotus?
awesome. love to see the return of a legend ;)
Nice looking car but why is it badged as a Lotus?
Why does yours have wire wheels and yellow bits, why is Scott Parkers badged as an opel:p
Because it associates my daily with the track car, and because Opel made 'Novas' as well, so the badging works... No genuine reason for putting a prestige marque's badge on it then? lol
Because it associates my daily with the track car
But that means nothing to anyone who looks at yours in the street, the reasoning you avoided is the same in both cases, because the owner wants to, and likes the way it looks.

Erm the lotus badge appeared on the carlton? Why does Joff have a 888 nova?
Why does Joff have a 888 nova?
Because its the same colour as the astra 888 coupe and has the same front seats as found in them:p
Was just wondering the reasoning for it, Lotus badge didn't appear on any old carlton, Lotus built one...Joff's intention from the outside was to build what could have been the 888 Nova much the same as the 888 Astra, and used the same colour etc, specced it as 888 may have done.
I couldn't seen any link to lotus in this besides the badges, I was expecting something odd like a twin cam engine.
Because its the same colour as the astra 888 coupe and has the same front seats as found in them:p
der........ i know that spud, i was responding to mk666.
Sorry John lol
Err mgay999, it does run a twin cam engine, its called an xe :p
Not a twin cam engine, THE twin cam engine:
http://www.motorbase.com/pictures/contributions/990913/std_1965_lotus_cortina_-_twin_cam_engine.jpg
I'm with MK on this one - unless he works there and they have used lotus soap to wash it with - or lotus oil?
lol
I was expecting something odd like a twin cam engine.
Not a twin cam engine, THE twin cam engine:
Ahhh, but you failed to specify 'THE' twin cam engine, you just said 'A' twincam engine:p
And what makes that lotus one 'THE' twincam engine, and an xe, or a YB not 'THE' twincam engine?
Regardless............very nice old skool car.

Agreed :d
Ahhh, but you failed to specify 'THE' twin cam engine, you just said 'A' twincam engine:p
And what makes that lotus one 'THE' twincam engine, and an xe, or a YB not 'THE' twincam engine?
Because it's called the Lotus Twin Cam, rather than "C20XE" or "YB..." er, whatever follows the YB in that engine code lol
I'd also say a "YB" but I wouldn't mean it has any old engine in it that someone has named "YB"
Because it's called the Lotus Twin Cam, rather than "C20XE" or "YB..." er, whatever follows the YB in that engine code lol
Oh, furry muff, im not up on ae86's so wouldnt know that, and afaik 'YB' is all there is to the code, its the turbocharged cosworth engine by ford:p

I thought the YB was N/A and the YBT was the turbo?
edit: and the AE86 ran a Toyota engine? :p The one in the "xxxxx-top" range iirc.
An incredibly famous engine, the Cosworth YB Turbo actually began life in 1984 as a N/A Cosworth YAA concept. However, the turbo version was launched in the 1986, 3 door Sierra with 204bhp. The infamous RS500 version of the same car followed in 1987 with 225bhp, a bigger T4 turbo, eight injectors (only four connected) and an engine designation of YBD.

Spud you should put Holden badges on your MK1, sloth would love it lol
Dont be so silly lol
Although there is a v6 on here i was looking at in the projects section that had holden badges added, looks very odd:roll:
Looks very nice, I remember it from years ago
I'm sure there was a story behind the lotus badges, could be wrong tho
Ah, probably heard YBD turbo before and assumed it was YBT. YAA is a crap engine code though lol "Whats in that?" "It's got a yaaahhhh" "rly?" "YAA RLY" "SRSLY? "YAA SRSLY" "What airbag?" "SRS one."
Its better than 'redtop' lol
Southie

Green top FTW lol
Borroks to that, mines going regatta blue to match the car, so when asked if its a 'ReDtOp MaYtEe' i can truthfully say, 'nope, its a bluetop' and confuddle the hell out of them lol

Hmmm, wonder if you can reverse a small block head with a bit of machining work... Just so I can say it's got a tippedtop lol
Christ that is a huge blast from the past... Love how perfect the insides are... Not loving the wheels and arch work tho...

I went back into the showroom at work last week to get a keycard for a scenic that had been delivered, had to put the ignition on and let the wipers park, as they had been left halfway up the screen:eek:
Oh christ i cant leave wipers half way up the screen...
Neither can i, or sunvisors not folded away and other such stuff like that lol

I find it irritating when the window winders ain't at the same angle on each side of the car.

Snap! Even in other cars.. My OCD is huge tho.

Me too, steering wheel straight and both wheels straight, all switches turned off or in matching positions, all vents lined up, wipers parked, sunvisors away, seatbelts and buckles all in the same position, i even always turn the stereo right down to the lowest volume aswell lol
Southie
16-09-11, 09:46 PM
Another one is I always like the passenger seat to be at the same angle and position as the drivers seat, also if the sun visor is down on my side I always put the passenger one down too lol

Haha yes yes yes yes and yes, but no to the wheels, you need to catalog pose every time (light turn to what ever side you'll see when walking up or taking photo)

Deffo, and heat rests too, inc rears. Hand brake only on 3 or 5 clicks.
I have to have tv/stereo vol on odd all the time, forks, knives and spoons have to be lined up too.

Not really as I do it :(
Why though do interior mirrors never stay in the same position the next day, probably the missus moving it I suppose, god I need my own car lol
You wanna borrow the S60 Lolvo I've got as a courtesy car, does headlights on in the daytime annoy you? It does me and I can't turn the fcukers off lol

Cut the wires.
There's a like 10 page agreement on what I can do with the thing (Haven't read it all yet actually, should do that lol) And the fella that dropped it off went round it with a magnifying glass for scratches and chips, I think he'd savagely beat me for 'fixing' the swedish headlights.
Just to add to the sad party lol
IIRC the story behind the badges was due to an apparent rumour at the time that Vauxhall/Lotus has toyed with putting a 2 litre engine into the Nova for sale but decided that it was too fast(or dangerous lol) so nothing ever happened. Given the Carlton thing at the time I guess the thinking was that it would be a lotus badged Nova if it ever went ahead. I think the guy says in the article that he wanted to build what Lotus didn't hence doing what you see.
Hope my memory is good, I remember that car well. It's in the article somewhere.
really like that, never seen it before though
