What box should I run in my nova Sri? Iv got a f13 wide 4.18 but she seems to go well in 1st 2nd and 3rd, but dies in 4th and 5th. Iv got a few boxes in the shed, would a f10 close 3.9 be better? And is it possible to put the 4.18 out of the f13 in to the close f10 box?
Cheers lads.:thumb:

hey mate think im right in thinking that by fitting a 3.9 diff u`ll gain higher top end speed but lose out on acceleration in the lower gears, and yeah u can fit the 4.18 out of the f13 into an f10 close ratio box, although someone will correct me if im wrong but u can just swap the gear cluster out of ur f13 box for a close ratio cluster ie 214, tha way the gearbox can stay in place

Well I live in mid Wales so its mainly country lanes I drive, that's why I wana put the 4.18 into the close ratio box, I know il lose top end speed but I don't need it. Don't mind not going over 80-90mph just wana get there faster, ha ha.

What are you looking for, quick acceleration or good top end? :)

Quick acceleration as mentioned above ^^

a CR cluster is what you want (I have a cluster for sale PM if any interest). for the best acceleration on std parts you could go to a 4.53 FD also although you are likely to pay a premium for them as they are not as common as other FD's.

right. you must use the f13 housing on a 1.4 mpi engine, the f10 bellhousing won't fit over the flywheel.. you can fit the f10 cluster into the f13 box, just remember to change the output gear (circlip pliers then a puller) then you end up with basically an f13cr with a 4.18 diff.... this will be geared to about 18mph/1000rpm, so motorwaying will be a bit noisy & fuel consumption will be up, but acceleration & round the lanes will be great.
