Hello everyone!

Been a couple of years since I kicked my heels around here. Lots has happened though, change of job, change of car (twice) and change of house (twice) lol

However the nova has remained and last month was finally made fully road legal and even made it to a track day at Keevil Airfield. I didn't quite realise how track focused I built it! It's ok on the road, but an animal on track, its a completely different machine. The car also had a fair amount of interest from all the regular caterham crew, especially after the first outing :)

The spec for anyone who is interested:

1650 8v (E16SE) with ARP bolts
Blydenstein B+ pack head with Ti double valve springs, hyrdo lifters (valve 2mm & 1mm oversized)
Kent AST2 cam
Twin weber 40 DCOE carbs (30mm chokes)
1.4SR ignition with Magncor 10 leads
Omex rev Limiter (currently set at 6500rpm)
lightened flywheel
4 paddle clutch (Sprung)
F13 CR gearbox with 4.18 FD
Rose jointed gear linkage

Rose jointed and plated lower arms
Avo shocks and springs (-60mm)

Revolution RFX 14 x 6.5 Group A motorsport spec

Heres a short(ish) in car video of the car in action.

and also here you see one of the times I pass a friends 250bhp focus RS engined escort and then a few more.

@ roughly 6.10. He eased of to let the caterham through, but I'd been chasing/hunting him down for a couple of laps so took the opportunity.

And a couple of photos for good measure:

was hoping to do combe on the 10th but had previous plans to go riding.

Maybe next time and hopefully find some of the old PNG massive there.

Comments welcome

Regards

Ah, theres a few names I recognise! Yes less said about the M4/PV incident the better, but as you can see the car has made a fully recovery, unlike my wallet.

I should also mention I'm on some uber budget tyres, but did my best - I think the lightness of the car help lol it was a good giggle anyway

Welcome back, very deceiving looking car, if it wasn't for the cage and the harnesses/bucket seat you wouldn't guess it was a track orientated car, good stuff :thumb:

Its currently residing at Lee's as I don't have room due to being stuck back at home (sort of) and its old space being taken up with a smokey old chavalier TD. Blame my employers for fcuking all this up btw lol

Christ! Thats not bad going. I never had you down as a track slag. Seen the cav on FB, but not around town.

Plans for the car are simply a pair of matching bucket seats, refurb the wheels in red and vynal the roof red.

lmfao! yes, that was an amusing day. I think it was PV09? I made it up the next day in my lil fiesta at the time. I remember walking for hours (maybe days) to get the the PNG stand which appeared to be in the next county.

I'm glad a few familiar names are popping up, theres plenty of new members by the look of it. Thanks for all the positive comments, its been a long time coming and it was certainly worth it. However its made me realise you dont need a touring car spec to have fun on track, but I'm glad I built the engine first and then I can tweek the bolt-on parts later on (suspension, brakes, etc)

Anyway, now its complete and working I can clear out my massive stock of spares! (see in Nova Trader soon)

Hello mate, welcome back, did wonder where you had got to, nice to see you still got the nova, and have been able to use it to it's potential, hope you get to use it more then i use mine...

One thing i will say, as i do to, you could do with raising the rev limit, as i heard you hit it a few times, mines set at 7.5k and at combe i was hitting it easy, so i need to get it put back to around 7.7k or higher.

Look forward to seeing more of you and the car mate.

Scott

hey Scott - the orange machine is looking better than ever! loving the vynal work. Yes, plan is to raise the limit to 7,2k but on the day I didn't want to stress the engine too much as it's still pretty fresh and it was the first time on track. On the final straight to the hairpin I hit 96mph in fourth on the 6,5k limiter.

Will - Wheels are great, I think they are a little 'stealth' at the moment hence plan for them to turn red. The tyres however are... interesting lol some yoko A058 will sit nice on there I think.

Jeff - Thanks, I haven't seen Dan since PV'09 so couldn't comment :o
