2000rpm idle

hi i am having loads of probs with my nova gte 1.6 8v engine it seems to keep idling at 2000rpm cold or hot and using loads of fuel i have tried adjusting idle on throttle body but aint doin any thing can any one help? many thanks dan

sounds like your idle control valve is not functioning. . . . . hope this helps

The coolant temp switch is a good place to look too.. You can check the icv by pinching the air pipe & see if the revs drop

What does it mean if it drops while being pinched, Icv knackered?
