Hope you got some strong dollar mate, Ive been & looked at around ten or so now. Most are accident damaged with shoddy repairs & filler rear qaurters, the rest are massively expensive & in dire need of engine builds (£4k+). Only found 2 straight ones, but outta my budget :(

Right im sorry, but they dont use that much oil compared to any other engine. 3/4ltr to every 3rd full tank. So thats roughly 900-1000miles.

Errr that sounds like a lot to me! I've never had a car use up oil anywhere near that quickly.
To be fair, that is a lot lol
Anyways, its a jap feature. Automatic Oil Renewal System. Same on the Nova, I just wait for the oil to all burn/drain out, then put new stuff in - bam, oil change without the hassle of disposing of the old stuff lol

It is a lot, BUT GM state that the Z22SE 'can' consume 1L per 1000miles and thats acceptable :s :O

I have never known any other car when someone buys them new they give you 4 gallons of oil as a free gift!

Cossies are the same, litre of oil every 1000 miles.
A mate had a silver rx8, not only did he look gay driving it, (2 ears pierced)
He wore the tips on the engine, and was a 2k rebuild.
Avoid imo.
Get a cheap ass 300zx or 200sx and go sliding;)
hardly fair to compare the oil consumption of a normal 4 pot motor with a rotary lol.
rx7, ive found myself looking at them now ive sold the nova off... mmmm
rx8 does look well gay in my opinion lol

alfa's are 1 ltr per 1000 miles as well, and rx8's require the tips of the rotor replacing roughly every 30,000 miles if im not mistaken, which is a full engine strip. also very prone to flooding. and you look like a butch hairdresser driving one.
Also to get good power from them you need to convert to steel conrods and ARP's..... lol
Cant find them on ebay stuart, are you sure?

I really liked it, it had been well looked after which helps. They go wlel but they really do lack in torque, and you obviously have to get in the revs to get the power out of them. It didn't use much oil really, some but not a silly amount. They're obviously not all gonna be the same, it's a bit hit and miss. I think I'd buy one if I had the money though, it felt nicely made, handled nice and in that blue looked awesome.

Oil usage is fairly normal, christ better than a 1.6 16v Vaux lol They are great fun cars, mine was pure gold the whole time i owned it. Handling is, well only one way to put it 100% dead on. Ride, comfort and build quality is at a high standard. These have the revised engine over RX7's of old, so rebuilds are rarely needed. I replace the rear section of exhaust for S/Steel jobbie and AEM cold air induction kit, great sounding. Revving the bolloks out of it and getting the little rev limit beep to sound and coupled with the add ons noise out puts on over run was highly addictive. Down falls are, parts are stupid expensive spark plugs will knock you back 16+vat for one. They have four. Fuel comsuption is silly for what they are, manage 25mpg on runs and that was really trying. My LS2 Monaro sees just over 30 and thats twice the car with twice the power. Torque.... well has a torque figure of a honda vtec, none, go look elsewhere for something with low down tug. Other thing, is previous owners sheer ignorance, mineral oil or part synthetic oil can only be used in these, if the owner has no clue what to put in, just walk away. Other thing is, if you need to move it off the drive to get the bins out you need to take it round the block, to avoid it flooding, once flooded its a tow start job. Oh and coil packs fail at around 30-40k... again with ignorant owners if it goes unnoticed it screws the cat and the rotors... that said coils for the set are 400sheets.
This was mine

Ah yes I forgot about the short run flooding! Just leave it to run a few minutes and rev the bollox off it before you turn it off lol
