SORN and private plate

Will be taking the Nova off the road for winter at the end of the month and wondered if there is anything different you would have to do as it has a private reg? i remember a freind lost there plate due to not Sorning in time or something similar?!? have checked the DVLA website but as always it is useless!!

SORN as normal, I do with the 888.
Can't understand them taking the plate off you even if you forget to SORN, they will just fine you.

Usually only confiscate the plate if you are persistantly displaying it incorrectly or the car is towed and not claimed back then subsequently scrapped.
