1.6 turbo questions [Archive] - Performance Nova Group

Hi, I'm looking to turbo my 1.6 ohc 8v engine, I'm going to be using a r5 carb, car has currently got the gte ignition fitted, would I need to change this for the r5 coil and crank sensor for the advance and retard for when coming on and off boost? Or is there a vauxhall set up I can use? I'm also looking to put the 1.2 crank in to destroke the engine, will this work?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks will :)

Oh my, I've seen nasty bodge builds before, but using an R5 carb is taking the biscuit lol

This subject is asked/covered atleast twice every two weeks.

Just about works on a Renault 5. I had a Group A carb on my 5, works lots betterer.

it was the most convoluted use of a cheap nasty carb to make a car work with a turbo

i am an ex renault 5 turbo man, only problem i found was heat soak in the carb after heavy use, always worked for me. so why not??

edit 1.6?? no chancelol
