Used to be on here a couple of years ago, then went off to the Vdub scene but after nearly 2 years siting in my garage after rescuing her from a field, i actually started sorting her out.

Shes a mk1 basic spec, 1200cc with a funky interior.
Plans are-
Sort out the body work.
Lows...coilovers on the front with lower rear springs.
Wheels...non split BBS's off of a BMW i think.
Respary in original colour.
Also might be looking for a 1300 SR engine. (the 1200 will do for now)

Here are some pictures of todays progress.

Most of those parts could have been taken from repair panels, but fair play for making them up yourself you look pretty handy at metalwork!

Would you be better putting rear arches on it so none of the rust comes back through?

Looks like your handy with a welder, definitely needed when owning a Nova lol

Don't look in too bad a shape really apart from all the usual rusty places, how's the underneath and rear legs and struts?

Coming along well though ;)

tryed to get hold of a rear corner but couldent find any anywere, so I we went for the cheap options and used a load of old mini and vw camper panels lol. TBH the rear archers are not that bad, not bad enough to fork out £90 each for two rear quarters, i suposse if i clean them up and treat them with the right paint and a good dose of underseal they will be ok for a couple of years to come.

its in a very good way to think of its age and the fact it as in a field when i found it. underneath and rear legs are in good shape, the odd bubble here and there but nothing to major, I will be undersealing the whole of the underside after finishing the welding anyway :thumb:

Sounds good to me, get rid of any old underseal if possible though as all the dirt and damp will have set in, a nightmare to do but will be worth it ;)

All the best on your build.

Good stuff

I would use bilt hamber dynax-ub on the inside of boot corners and arches so they don't rust again (its like waxoyl but better)

Mieran - that looks good, have you used it? how much cans would it take to do bothe rear corners and behind the bach panel? cheers

I've used it on a small scale, its good stuff, their anti rust products are really good too.

Not sure how much is needed tbh. If I do end up getting another Nova I would do the full car lol, the tube they give you comes in handy when doing inside chassis legs etc
