View Full Version : Head unit wiring
I have an A reg, so obviously there's no head unit look, how can I wire one in? I'm a novice when it comes to wiring, but I'm presuming, live to battery with a volt thing that brings the voltage down. Earth to the body or attach it to another earth,
Then just your average wires for the speaker, like for like?

best is to get a perma live off the loom elsewhere i think so no need to run it from the battery, and splice it in.
then you will need a ignition live, i would do the same again find a ignition live on the loom and splice it into there,
and then you need a earth which there should be on the bulkhead somewhere.
best bet is to go get one of the cables from halfords or cut the block off a nova loom (i have 2 spare if you need one) and wire that in.
and yeah normal speaker wires can go into this block aswell.
1. Fused power line from battery to HU
2. Earth to bulkhead (there should be an earth point back there somewhere not too far away - or make one!)
3. Wires to speakers/amps etc, then any other accessories that need wiring in.

I'd recommend putting a new power wire in from the battery. Just in case the 20+ year old wiring has been damaged/modded/whatever previously. And you can put in some nice fresh wire capable of handling whatever power headunit you choose, with the right fuse too :)
