Whats the deal with scrap cars?? (Future Autograss Content)

hi people, im currently planning a class 6 autograss car which im going to build, it will be front engined, front wheel drive and in the most part it will be spaceframed, the thing im stuck with is the fact that i want to build it into a shell that will look a bit different and really stand out, the plan i have at the moment is most likely to be a mk2 vw caddy pickupbut i literally only need the bare shell, no interior needed and all the running gear we will build ourselves, i had a thought though about picking up a shell from the scrap yard, preferably a write off with front end damage or something with to much welding needed as that makes no real difference to me, but can i get a car out of a scrap yard thats already been registered as scrapped?? im not putting it back on the road or anything so surely i could?? any help would be greatly appreciated, the shell could change in time if i get any other sudgestions thats just my thought at the moment, cheers, ollie

im pretty sure once its scrapped its scrapped regardless to not seeing the road again i highley doubt that a scrappy will give you on for the chance it could see the road again etc etc

Once they give the certificate of destruction to the owner it is doomed as the scrapyard has informed DVLA it is destroyed.

I once asked about a mint MG Midget shell that came in on scrappage to use as a circuit racer - but it was no definitive no!

Melt you are with the local scrappy. Because in theory you try and re register it anyway. The only thing To do is ask.

I guess a wodge of cash to the scrappy and they simply 'kill it' by handing it over to you. I guess you dont need any V5 etc for an autograss car?

it is possible to do this if you have a friendship going with said scrappy. i used to do this with our one for banger racing.( ie jags, granada's).
on the basis it got taken back to him at the end of use.
