I presumed that a nova would fulfil anybodies desire for rust, or did you buy it to stop the nova rust jokes. :)

lol

Luckily it was made in the sixties and the steel is slightly heavier grade and better quality than the materials used in our Nova'slol

Plan is to get her running, sort the brakes and go from there....

Will need a new wiring harness, dynamo is siezed solid, will have a spare one around though;)

Will need some panel bashing to sort out the prangs, front ns bumper and wing has hit something big and solid, bearing in mind the bumper is made from a 6" x 2 1/2" U section girder:eek:

All in a days messing about:d

is it a fordson major engine? if so, it should be a doddle to get running.. as usual, the old hydraulic bits will be awful, but you should be able to hit the classic tractor boys for the ford based stuff.. i can't wait to see it running... Muir Hill stuff is built well

we got a 1959 jcb hydradigga going within 1/2 hr, a manitou that needed a full fuel system clean out in the middle of a field & a battery in an hour, and my personal fave... we were dragging one of those tiny winget dumpers out of a bramble patch, the sort with a pull handle to tip the skip & a lister 1 pot diesel, i banged it into gear, and the sodding thing sprung to life. it hadn't moved in 25 years, and the brakes didn't work.. i was going down a 1:4 incline & had to stick it into a hedge to stop it.

i dragged the first vehicle i ever drove out of a shed after 18 years, and got it running perfectly...

it was a .........................drum roll..........................................

lister autotruck, i was 8.. my brother was 9 & dad got it for us. he gave us the starting handle & said when you can start it, you can drive it... we took about 2 weeks to get it going, and we had arms like popeye.. but fair play, dad stuck to his word, as we came thundering out the shed at 4 mph on it.. and he let us drive it.. but we had to be 14 before we were old enough to go up the road on it...... we still have it..

Yeah fordsons are easy to work on, and all parts are available new (my dad has 2 super majors, and a power major) One of which had a back actor, and been in a wood for 13years, (it was that rusty half the cab had completely rotted off lol) new oil, diesel, jump leads and away it went (all be it with a screwdriver accross the starter terminals, as the wiring was shot)
And all the hydraulic pipes on the back actor kept bursting, so had to hold that up with a lever pull to get it moved.

Wow its been 2 years since this was updated:eek:

How time flies.......... time for an update

I applied for the logbook @ 6 weeks ago, got a letter two weeks ago to say that the DVLA were processing my application and today the new V5C arrived:d

The dumper was on the DVLA website, so the application was straight forward

2 former keepers apparently and the name and address of the previous owner from Washington!

So 8686 UP is now registeredlol mmm road run??????

I have been planning to get her started up soon, so today I removed the starter motor, and checked the engine was free, turned the flywheel 360 degrees with a pry bar.

I then fitted a replacement starter (that works) so watch this space, hopefully won't be two years for my next post.
I plan to take it to a vintage show next year!!!;)

My Plan is to take it to Newby Hall next year more or less as is, hopefully with some brakes.

Originally it should be red/orange, will need to check, says red on the log book

This should be interesting mate

Can't say im a huge enthusiast lol but my uncle took us to a tractor show/ploughing competition a few years back which I really enjoyed. Absolutely hundreds of tractors on display then ploughing by everything from horses to the very latest machines that can plough a whole field in two runs lol

Same uncle also has a Fordson Major
