I have one in my GTE, came from a Corsa Diesel I think and I also think some Astra Diesels had them in?

Lets you just about get 60mph in second!

You wont hit 60 in second with the 4.18 fd. When mated to the normal gte close ratio cluster at 5000rpm in fifth you are doing 90, i.e top speeds in each gear are slightly reduced.

i don't want to buy one, i was planning on spending a day down the scrappers and flogging whatever i could get, especialy after i saw 1 for ?150 on www.rallyusedparts.co.uk

does anyone know for certain which cars/models/engines these boxes were fitted to

Hey im not with you......
The wide ratio box means you'll be going faster than if you were at the same rpm on the close ratio F13 GTE box???

I can barley do 60 in second with a four speed box never mind with a 5 speed cr box. (then again i am in a 1.2!!)

on me derv i can get 40 in second with my f13 and that aint slow - but you will have another 2k rpm ontop of what i have

no the gears come in pairs so you cant just say its frm a wr so it will be longer, you can mix+match the final drive gears to make a fd of your choise.

ie some of the bigger gears have i.e 53, and the smaller gear has 13, giving an fd of about 4.2

get what i mean its not easy to explain without drawing a pic

also the one you saw on used rally spares was a quaife FD (i think, or it was atleast a stronger version than GM)
