nothing wrong with owning a nova at your age lol, there plenty older pensioners drive them about thier just not "in" to them as you are

why be a boring person and buy a new car which tbh all look the same basicly, big bubbles that weigh too much

don't worry.. we are all ages on here.. and its nice to meet someone who also remembers when the air was clean & sex wasn't......

get some pics up.. and if you can afford it, join up & go to a few club meets, we are a right varied bunch & all novas are welcome.

I'm 29 and get stick of nobs for driving a nova but laugh at them as they all drive crap boring cars that cost them a fortune to buy/maintain, plus they have bad taste.

I think pretty much anyone who owns a Nova, or any old car for that matter gets told by people they should own something newer instead. A lot of people can't understand why anyone would own a car more than a few years old, let alone a car over 20 years old. People buy £10k new cars because they think it will be reliable, when of course thats way more than any repairs will be on an old car, and then they pay silly money on warranty keeping servicing and repairs on their new over-complicated car anyway!

i haven't been called names for driving a nova in 20 odd years....but then i don't exactly go for flash looking ones....

thru the hot hatch years of the mid - late 90's mine was an A reg parchment beige hatch on steelies.. even the old bill wouldn't believe it was fast..

Agreed, your age isn't really a factor. I'm 21 and I get told to buy a newer car or to buy a car that doesn't make me look a chav

Im 30 and im happy that ive got a nova, local peeps see me about in my astra and ask me if ive still got one as im not me without one apparently lol

Used to get ragged and teased about having one, but i always quote when i went to vaux the same day as my mate, i bought a pair of brand new mk2 headlights for it, and front discs and pads for about 60 quid (iirc) and fitted them myself, a mate had his front discs and pads done on his mk4 astra GSi the same day, cost him about £350 i think it was, and people thought i was mad having a cheap car haha:p

I'm 31 and dont actually get teased as much as I used to tbh - I think its more down to people starting to appreciate the fact that novas are too old to be chav! lol

Now if I had a Saxo/corsa C/etc, then it would be a different story...

As my 'scene' fan will always say 'haters gonna hate'....

Some people will go out of their way to cast dispersions on others cars purely because its not what theyre into, but you will always be welcome over here, and at any/all vaux shows:d

Im almost 31 have the Nova GSi, a Calibra 16v project and the mk4 Astra GSi as a daily driver, and when I see some of my mates driving around in their sensible family cars i think WTF?

That is definitely not me! I drive what I have because I want to and ignore the haters, they are just jealous cos they dont have a Nova anymore! lol

It doesn't matter what you do there's always someone that will say "Oh aren't you too old for that?" when does anyone get too old for messing about with cars whether its a 2.0 Nova or a MK1 Escort?

People keep telling me I'm too old for what I do, but school girls need love too!

I'm 28 and there has always been a Nova about me since I was 1! My mum got one brand new in 1984, since then there hasn't been 1 day at our house Novaless, and can't see that changing anytime soon! I still think anyone that drives one everyday deserves a medal, I know I couldn't do it!

^^ agree with that , im 30 and as most of you have had a nova since i was 17 , but only for the last 4 years that i decided to keep nova for fun and have a daily ,

I'm 40 in a few weeks time and I still love Nova's and like Vauxhalls in general (as I know how they work, which parts fit what and where to find advice and guidance!)

I've had my Nova since I was 17 and its part of the family now (its even in my will!) . Used to get loads of stick at work about having my nova, but this has diminished now that novas are generally no longer chav cars!

So dose that make me the oldest one on here with a Nova ?, surely not !.
nova gsi ian your only as old as you feel you can be a slipper wearing stay-in grandad at 20 plus or a stay-out all night party animal in your later years it's up to you.
If you like driving Nova's GOOD ON YER what other people say is not important it's how you feel that is important. You only live once have fun.

I've always had one since I was 17, am 30 next weekend. Haven't driven one for nearly two years though as the novelty has worn off for me so the car just sits collecting dust now.

In my case there is some truth in the saying "once you go Jap you never go back!"

I'm 37, been into Novas for 13 years but as a teenager, the two coolest cars were the SR and XR3, they were the two street cars when I was 12 I suppose.

Got my first Nova in 1998, thought "I'll get a more modern car in 6 months hen I can afford it"
Well, 6 months later I was discovering just how good even the 993 ohv was, stuck with it.

After 5 yeras or so, I decided to grow up and get a modern car, I hated it, it was so boring and actually not any faster.

So, years later I love my Novas, I personally prefer standard ones but each to thier own.

Lts of folk laught when I turn up in an old Nova, but when thier modern eurobox bus as the size genrally is, breaks down guess which car takes them to and fro the garage.

Anyway, you are not too old, you just have some character!
