I'm replacing the 8mm fuel feed from the pump on my gsi and wondered if I can just bin the regulator on the rearr pump mount, it's rusted to bugger anyway, is it needed?

i think it is, but plenty of other people run them without & get on fine.

if any of the rubber mounts are shot... use mini exhaust mount bobbins from the local fast fit... gm ones are crazy money

It's not a regulator is a flow damper, supposed to smooth out fuel delivery but as Mike says plenty run without one and have no problems.

They do tend to rust and then spit fuel everywhere lol

i just think its there for a reason, but the reason is probably more for driver comfort than performance...
