Myself and the mrs popped up to Mallory Park yesterday for to watch a race meeting involving a lot of old Super Saloons, Thundersaloons etc.. right up my street :thumb:

Most of these cars I don't believe have seen any sort of racing in years, the Carlton for example hasn't been used or run for 16 years and with a 700hp Chevy lump under the bonnet it still didn't mess around, 2nd fastest thing there, the Lotus just had the edge on it but that was running a rather current LS engine and had a plywood bodykit ( seriously ) lol

remember seein pics of the carlton in car mags as a kid, always thought it looks awesome. Seems like it was the most modern entry to turn up to that event..?

It was an amazing day out, even better as it was free entry, courtesy of my friend Davy Brewis who was running a spaceframe Lotus Elan. Sadly he didn't get past the practice session due to oil pressure problems.

Some iconic cars thee, and all being well they will be joined by some others for some proper racing next year.

The ex-circuit race and now hillclimb Fiat 500 spaceframe (Mighty Mouse) was a particular highlight of the day for me, stunning preparation detail and lots of great ideas.

I didn't even think to call you until I'd left !

It certainly was a great day out, I presume you mean the blue Fiat ? if so I totally agree, looked to be a stunning build.

Yes, that's the one.

I had a good chat with the owner of the little Fiat. He's owned it since 1987, carried out a full restoration back then, and has gradually been developing it since.
