View Full Version : Rose Jointed Linkage Issues.
Hi all, I'm having issues with my Rose Jointed linkage.
Basically i can adjust it and either get
Reverse 1-2-3-4
Or
1-2-3-4-5
But not all of them. Has anyone any idea of what i need to do to get all gears. Its as though there isn't enough movement in the rose joints.
have you made the threaded bar with the rj's the same length as the original bar?
you should set it up using the drill bit method
get under the car and lossen the clamp bolt that holds the selector rod but dont slide it out
on the selector turret at the back there should be a small black lug that you can pull out
pull it out and put a 5mm drill bit in there
rotate the linkage mechanism clockwise as your looking into the engine bay
you should feel the drill bit go in a bit further
keep it there
get someone to sit in the car and hold the gearstick between 1st and second, you should see a small mark on the gearstick casing which is half way between 1st and second
while thier holding the gearstick still get back under the car and tighten the clamp without moving the gearstick
remove the drill bit and re fit the lug
you should now have all gears, if you dont id recomend checking your rj linkage against a standard one to make sure all dimenstions are the same
it sounds like either its not being set up right or the threaded bar is too short or long
the nut in the picture has to be ground away so its very small as it will hit the gearbox

this is where it hits the gearbox
