I made some a few years back dude, what you thinking? carbon? or polished/alloy effect?

I would make some carbon one's but there is no way i can afford to buy the carbon, nor risk posting it!

Humm wonder if Mike can help me out..

I had my eye on their Carbon Fibre bonnets, expensive though they unsurprisingly were, guesss I can't buy one now anyway.

You could always offer to do a group buy with moneys upfront. You can get flat packed postage boxes on ebay cheaply, theres all sorts of sizes available so you should be able to get some that will be suitable.

Not doing big buy orders, last time was an utter night mare, lots of none members who i don't know were in on that, i got the stock made them and two pulled out, ok i sold them in the end, but still it was so much hassle to organise 15-20 people to get them to pay up by X date and then get the stuff/make them all/pack post them all to the right address when not all of the orders came with the info i asked for etc blah bal blah..

So i would possibly do one or two, if i can get some carbon of mike etc.

What alternative material can be used for this?

I rather have something strong and spray it same colour as the car than pay xxx just because its made out of carbon fiber and looks good on spec sheet

I personal use/used stuff call foamex it's a high density flexible plastic foam type board material, you can laminate Formica finishes onto it, or paint it, or get graphics printed on it etc etc..

I'd be interested in this type is that like the material that sign writers use to make signs and then maybe put a carbon effect vinyl on

I'd be interested in one if it WASN'T made of carbon :)

Carbon is a little to modern looking for a nova IMO looks out of place

I would take one to wanted carbon but a black one would be good.

Pistol Pete

Scott, maybe some money making to b made here.

CF sheet can be obtained easily enough i would imagine. I have looked at these guys before (mike might know if any good)...http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Default.aspx

I would love a carbon one, but if the majority vote otherwise i am easy. A polished one would look good, but be a night mare to keep shiney!

Not to take any orders from scott, but i made mine in about 20mins. If use plastic as its simply light and bendy,

carefull with cf as it can arc on the battrey and catch light.

how much does carbon looky likey sticky back plastic cost??
then just get pretty much anything cheap & plastic for the base sheet.. there is a lightweight hollow sectioned plastic sheet that they use for cheap greenhouses etc.. called correx(i think) you can cut it with scissors.

i just googled it & found this site...

lots of fake carbon, wrapping, vinyl etc

I definitely buy one if you end up making them could someone let me know would pay upfront if needed

scott.parker
28-08-11, 01:01 PM
Just doing a quick search, tbh it is not cost effective to make them, i estimate that materials alone (foamex with C/F or polished vinyl on top) will be approximately £36 each! and then i need to add postage and a profit! lol lol

Do as Benn Say's make one from something, as it looks like i cant make them at a price anyone would buy them at.

This is the mod that I want for mine, but I can't decide what finish would look best. Agree that cf may look too modern (but good), chrome or polished would be a nightmare, body colour or satin black is the favourite IMO. Although a sticker bombed or graffiti panel could be good.

Definitely want one though.

scott.parker

Right, how about i find out how much be to make white,or black one's then leave C/F vinyl corering etc to the buyers???
