Yeah i noticed that aswell, apparently 'a bolt' on the ramp snapped or something, nearly landed on the guy who was next to it, so damn lucky really, but if something snapped, then why are the arms in the front of the pic still up, as thats the side its dropped off from lol

Nope as you have to hold the button(s) to keep the ramp lifting, im thinking the arms werent paced properly and they slid out from under the car once it was up!

we have a roller door like that.. it took us 2 days till we started using a small mole grip to hold the switch...

But theyre like that for a reason, thats just sillyness but on a ramp if something like that was done then more fool whoever did it and i hope they get the sack!

spud, if the 4 arms were under it, and put anywhere vaguely close to under the car, surely the weight would hold it on.

Well Mr Smith, it needs front pads, a brake fluid change, an O/S lower ball joint, oh and it fell off the ramp. OK, how much for... it did what? Which bit? the 'fell off' bit! Oh yeah, it fell off the ramp, not to worry as it will polish out. So did you want the work done?

ha ha thats epic. how did they got it out of there though? It looks a tight spot lol

a bloke at work had a ramp fail with a civic earlier in the year. He left it in the brake rollers in drive and got out. after a minute of spinning the rollers it slowly climbed out and f*cked off onto the sunken MOT ramp in front, straddled one platform and bellied out lol it was proper stuck, It took us an hour with bits of wood and my Land Rover with the winch to free it lol

When I was working at BMW/Mini a few years ago one of the younger tech's had replaced a gearbox on a Mini. He took it for a roadtest and was gone a long time.
One of the othe techs gets a phone call asking if they could give him a hand moving this car.
Anyways, we decided to go out thinking he had broken down and at first we could not find him but on the way back down we spotted this....

The muppet had taken the bend too quick, mounted the grass verge and got some air, cleared a wire fence then nose dived into the field and rolled it!

The fence he actually managed to clear(We uprooted it to access the field)....

And the rather bent customers car, check out the bend in the glass roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the like button!

Pmsl Rich, i would love to have been a fly on the wall when they told the customer! When i was at vauxhall, one of the lads parked an easytronic astra 45 degrees up a wall, wrote it off! (axle ended up where the fuel tank was lol)

The workshop controller took a Z3 M Coupe out a few years ago as the customer complained it did not feel right after a body repair.
He lost control of it and wiped out a bus shelter. Turned out they had mixed up the brake pipes going into the ABS pump.

The valeter drove a car round to put it into the showroom but opened the glass door before hand. Whilst he went to get the car a salesman shut the door as he was cold. The valeter then proceded to drive the new car straight through the glass window lol

We had a car in with a Clifford remote start alarm on it. The tech left it in gear on his ramp so when he pressed the remote it ploughed through his nice shiny Snap-On box.

Another tech put a car in reverse to get the lever out of the way whilt he fitted a new radio. He then started the cat to test the radio and the car flew backwards and ripped the open door off on the ramp post!

Here's one in a similar vein. Was working part time loading/unloading cars onto ships during college.

I hopped in one on deck and slammed it straight into a post. Not my proudest moment! although to be fair a white post against a white backdrop isn't the most visible thing.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v698/ManorQuay/X.jpg

Was too busy switching the radio on (and still waking up lol). Annoying, as before I done that I had never had so much as a parking bump, unlike most others. Used to drift Patrols and Cabstars up the wet ramps between decks etc.

Oh well! lol

Whilst working for Europcar for a bit of fun and some extra cash I had a slight bump in a Fiat Brava. Came down a dual carriageway and took the island way to fast. I entered it OK but made my own new exit! lol
I hit the kerb head on and pushed both wheels into the arch and wedged it between two posts scraping both sides and ripping the mirrors off.
Managed to reverse it off and pull down a side street to assess the damage. Got the brace bar from the boot and used it to pull the arches out as the tyres were rubbing quite badly. Whilst I was doing it a copper drove past the end of the drive, he looked right at me but carried on driving and never came back.

On another delivery there was three of us in a car each going down a country road. The other two dissappeared over a hump back bridge and I decided to try and get some air.
Unfortunately as I took off I noticed the other two were stationary on the other side as they stopped for a tractor. I was just a passenger then as I carreered in slow motion into the back of one of the cars lol

I have many many more true stories

going back about 10 years, one of our artic drivers was going to a farm on a fairly quiet, but wide & decent lane. as he was turning right into the drive, an audi hit his rh step & tore that & the bumper off.. it wrote the car off..
the car was being taken for an mot before being delivered to its new owner... the strange thing was, that it was 40 miles from the sales garage & got another 5 miles to go to the mot garage, one with an interesting reputation...

Couple more I have just remembered.....

We had a 5 series brought in that had some unusual damage. I asked what had happened and it turned out the owner towed his speed boat and he failed to secure it properly. Under heavy brAking the rather large boat slid forward in the trailer and mounted the rear of the car. It made a right mess of it crushing the boot and most of the roof into a lovely 'V' hull shape!

One of out advisors drove a 5 series around to the workshop to replace a bulb. What he failed to notice was the customers rather expensive bike on a roof rack and proceeded to wipe it out on the workshop door! The bike was hit by the roller shutter door and pushed into the roof of the car. Another expensive repair.

Will try and rember some more

when i worked at a truck dealer in oxon back in the nineties, a wagon was brought in on the wrecker with a bad air leak. and when the driver left it, the air had all drained out, causing the brakes to come on but the handbrake lever was not actually on....... so trainee fitter fired the engine up, & found the leak in seconds, grabbed an airline fitting & stuck it on..... then watched the wagon roll off down the yard & into a tree...... luckily the tree stopped it from going down a 15' drop into the river.
