View Full Version : pictures of wiper location with no fire wall please
I've removed the fire wall in my engine bay and wondering what method to use on the wiper motor.
i've seen people use ford brackets, citroen ax ones etc.
can anyone who has all ready done this please put up some pictures and say what you used.
one of those silly things i need to get car through mot, personally hanging out of the window with a sqeegee thing is apparently not permitted.
thanks in advance
Is the guide for the zx wiper conversion as written by Christian here (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?116847-*HOW-TO*-Fit-a-zx-single-wiper-unit-to-Nova.) to you Sean?
I used a Citroen one that bolts up under the scuttle and uses a Nova motor so no wiring changes. Really neat solution, just attempting to find pics in my WIP!
There's a guide in Articles on here for fitting one.
Also swiped this quote from Scott's wip thread...
If you look on the bulk head there is a bracket that is not standard. I got the method from Bruce, it is a Mk4 Fiesta wiper motor mounting bracket, if you remove the plate from the standard nova one then it bolts straight up, it will need the linkage modifying though. Pretty straight forward though.
Chris
And the best(ish) pic i could find..

lol that bracket method was utter s h i t! hence why i don't use it, mine is on a AX motor/bracket linkage set up, same as ZX, but i do believe ZX has slightly more sweep over the screen etc, took me a while to dig this out...

Thats how i did mine mate.
Scott
How's this
Citroen linkage and Nova motor, bolt through the front, nut welded underneath the scuttle on the LH side and a cable tie on the RH side:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/226.JPG
Cut and welded wiper arm to get it straight/right length:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/228.JPG
Key thing I found was to get the angle as close to the windscreen as possible, otherwise the arm bends too much and scrubs the plastic of the wiper arm on the windscreen:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/230.JPG
Parked position and spare wiper hole blanked over:

Hope that helps?!

Flat blade ftw
Flat blade scrubbed the windscreen on mine due to the angle mentioned above... The tabs either side would scrape the glass cos of the wiper arm angle

Mine sits in a lower angle to yours, must be as it's AX

Yea sell spare if yor interested.

Have heard of wiper motor mounted behind dash before. Did think of it myself, but never seen it done so went the Uno route.
Be interested in seeing it finished & working.
Martin, is that uno wiper motor single or twin blade?

The arm is twisted so it fits to the motor then it runs as standard was on the van when I got it never seen it done before but seems to work well I'll take more photos when it gets built up Scott

Single only
Wiper arm goes directly to the motor. No linkage at all.
Dont ask me either how you wire it in. Mate did it for me. I get intermittent & one constant speed.
More than enough for amount i use the car, but not enough for some with a daily maybe.

i had one on my old sr years ago and all the speeds worked, mate had one and it only worked like yours and it was down to the spec of the car they came off, mine had more wires on it so more speeds
Scott, did the bracket set up not work? As i want both wipers so the AX set up isnt right (tried it and used it for a while, redrilled the plate to run a nova motor at a better angel) as my Corsa set up works but isnt 100%
Peg, ive seen that done that ones before on a dutch guys td nova, was a very nice way of doing it.

Benn, look on my wip page i posted link to in this thread, the fiesta bracket would work, but something was wrong with the linkage in how it had been re welded or something, as it use to hit the back of the bulk under the scuttle cover, could be done nicely, just Chris made a bodge of it, and i thought it looked crap IMO.
Ah cool, i'll have a look. I'm still not happy with the way the Corsa one in mine wipes.

Video of mine^, works ok, but misses a few bits hence me not liking it. But it works well, but the Corsa scuttle is very curved and the spindals come thru straight, where the Nova one have alot of angle, so it's not right.
