View Full Version : fan broke
ok turned fan on sat morning and it wont work
non of the speeds work at all. this is a MK2 style switch.
iv checked the fuse and its fine.
also iv noticed that the centre light doesnt come on when i pull the switch out for the rear window heater, and it worked b4 the fan stoped working?
chances are its the switch, or the wiring into the switch as this light doesnt worjk aswell?

same as mine!
i got a portable one now plugs in2 ciggy lighter hole
dunno what wrong wiv my fans tho
When mine didn't work it ended up being the Heater motor, Check the plug on the motor, check the resistor on the motor with a multimeter.
my lights didn't work cos all the bulbs had blown.
I got another switch from someone on ebay and that did the same.
The bulb runs off a seperate circuit, nowt to do with the switch (as far as i know). if you pull the switch out the chances are that the bulb holder will remain in the socket, If not it will be a grey plastic sleave with 2 pins on it. As the lights come on regardless of if the side lights are on etc.

Another long shot but check behind the clocks/speedo to see if the loom has be rubbing on either the clocks or the chassis, mine did this and it removed the insulation off 2 live wires, therefor shorting it out.
Chack the contacts in the fuse box then trace the wires back looking for shorts like i said.
Hope it helps
