I have been looking at the gha gaz coilovers but don't want to turret the rear so am going for springs, dampers and adjustable platforms but was wondering if that rear setup is any good for the money as i can get fk setup for 100 cheaper.I have had fk before and thought they were ok but really want gaz ones this time.Any opinions welcome on this one.:thumb:
You dont have to turret the rear for coilovers. I haven't.
You may need to hammer the lowest part of the lip on the chassis leg, but not all Nova's need it.
what size of spring do the gaz rears use? my billsteins had no hope in hell of fitting without turetting?

Just heard to many horror stories of shocks punching through as it does look weak there.
Just heard to many horror stories of shocks punching through as it does look weak there.
From where? And it's really, really not, took me sodding ages to cut through it to get some harnesses out of my old car, as the tube was welded in and they were looped, it's 3 skins thick each about 1mm.
That part is strong as fook as mk said. Its the bottom mount thats the usually the problem and where everyone tends to strengthen.
I would go for separate damper/spring setup
MK- why did you Cut the bar out to get the harnesses out?
It was for breaking at the time, no one was interested in the shell and someone offered me money for the harnesses, out came the grinder lol

Now I am really confused looks quite tight for full coilover
They were fixed loops on the end, cheap harnesses. Well ish, sabelt ones, but budget 2" things.

I have 1.9 od springs and mine fit fine, i had to dress one side was all.

avos defo fit as i have them on mine with no turrets, guessing gaz's cant be much different.
They do fit, will need some adjusting with a hammer but not alot, theres a couple if pics in my wip thread i think
As said 1.9" springs on the rear. Tickle with a hammer sorts out the lower section although you might find when it's on the ground it doesn't rub anyway.
Think it's triple skinned on the rear turret in that area, so fairly strong? If you're worried you could always stitch weld the seams in that area.

I thought you could get a standard damper and spring setup from GAZ, it was the same price though as a full coilover kit.

You can, and it is the same price. You can also tell them what height and poundage you want

Have you tried to fit them yet? If not then try, as I'm sure they will go, don't hammer the inners till you place the beam up on jack slightly, as it moves the bodys position to the beam mount point, as in they might touch if you try mount them with the beam fully down etc..

Not talking wet thanks mike just going by what i have been told hence the question here as you guys have more experience with coilovers and novas than me.Havn't tried fitting them as i don't have them because i wanted this info before i ordered them but going on what everybody has said i will get coilovers on the rear as well.
Has anybody got any info on strengthening the lower beam mounting for said coilovers please??
I think it's in Pauls build thread, just a case of making up a stronger mount and replacing the standard one
Easiest way is to leave the standard mount and weld a plate in, like this

Just put wheels on which are 7x15 et 49 rfx's and i don't even know whether coilovers will fit between wheel and inner arch on the rear anyway?
