I'm doing it next month and wondered if there were any bits to avoid or not bother with! I've got to get from Vegas to Chicago so this seemed the logical route.

I have a friend that done it a couple years ago seen a program on telly last week about it can't think the name but was good to see where to go and not to I'll try find out it was worlds greatest motorcycle trips or similar it's some thing I really want to do at some stage

I drove route 1 from San Fran to LA last year and that was awesome so 66 was a must! I've hired a convertible for the trip which will either be a chrysler Sebring or mustang. Would prefer the mustang but to be fair the chrysler was ok last year.

done M62 and A46 so could say Ive done route MA66 lol

Mate of mine has, got married in Hawiaa & drove the entire route 66 for his honeymoon (god knows why lol) he said it was possibly the most awesome road trip he has ever done.

I'm in the states a little over 3wks total. First few days in new York to party it up for labour day weekend. Then a week in Vegas. A week to drive 66 into Chicago. Weekend with friends in Chicago then another weeks driving to Boston via a friend in Ohio and niagra falls. Really can't wait!!

Sounds very cool mate enjoy.I drove from orlando through the everglades then right down to key west on hyway one and that was excellent so you should love 66
