Hi guys

What's the best place for an oil temp sensor on an XE?

Reason I ask if I have aftermarket oil temp and pressure gauges and was planning on fitting them all in the block near the normal oil pressure gauge sender. I can only fit 2 there due to their sizes so choices are:

Standard oil sensor in pump, aftermarket oil pressure sensor in back of block & oil temp sensor in sump (sump plug adaptor, means removing my magnetic sump plug)
Downgrade standard oil sensor to light only (no pressure gauge) and have all three in the back of the block as this will free up room

All depends whether the temp sensor is best off in the block or the sump!

Think I'm going to use the M22x1.5 thread on the oil pump for the temp gauge, useful link: http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/internet_articles/MIG%20Vauxhall%20-%20XE-LET%20oil%20pressure%20and%20temp%20senders,%20wha t,%20why,%20how,%20where.htm

And the thread on the block just above the red circle on that pic is acceptable for an oil pressure gauge yar?

Think i need to relocate my oil temp sensor after reading your link above.
Have mine in sump plug so no doubt have false readings.

Ideally from what I understand it wants to be somewhere where there is flow, saying that I have seen loads done how you have but it would be interesting to see if there is a big difference in reading from moving it.

I did loads of searching earlier on the matter and plenty of people were saying their sump temps were considerably lower than readings from other places.

Ordered a thread adaptor from Demon Tweeks for the oil pump end so all will be well soon.
