How does one loose a multi billion pound hypersonic aircraft? Did it fly off the end of the earth or something?

The '2' isn't technically an aircraft though, its a missile platform isn't it? The 3x was the so called hypersonic aircraft and never got the funding? At least thats what i remember reading a few years back.

Ramjet conversion on the Nova after the v8?
