View Full Version : Project 2011: Steve's Track Car
Hi
I started a new project a few months ago. I will build a track car this time
Base is a '93 1.2i City, 1 owner, 91.000km

The shell was pretty solid, but I also found some rust

As I have some original panels, repair was done quickly

Dissambled the car and put it on the roll-over jig to clean up the floor.
I welded in the chassis plating kit, painted the engine bay and interior, drilled holes for the cage, welded in plates and much more
More progress:

still need to finish the interior.
Steering will be rebuilt with a Quaife setup
I've also started with the engine, will be a C20XE
Cheers
Steve
Good to see it getting a proper engine :) and I thought you were a small block lover. :d
Nice project :) Whats the gear stick out of?
and I thought you were a small block lover
Apparently everybody is "shocked" to see I'm fitting a big block to a Nova lol
Whats the gear stick out of?
It's out of a Vectra C, I will use the cable linkage for the shifting

I remember you saying at Billing you were going to be doing a track car, not sure if you said it was having an XE or not, and that Vectra C shifter/linkage is a nice idea, same set up as a mk4 Astra? Ive seen it in golfs, they have have all gone modern cable setups too, i wonder if it's better then the old cav style?
I'm sure you will let us know.

Glad you finally got the WIP thread started. Saw this on my trip over a few months ago and was looking good. Was also impressed with the workshop.
Will be keeping my eye on this Steve

and it looks like the cars in the small garage on the end...
I just noticed that I completely forgot to update this thread lol
Ok, 1st test drive was in February

Later on, I changed some "details"

And as I always loved the design of the Group-A Novas from the 80s, I got the decals made :d

I took the car for the 1st track day to Belgium last week and it ran very fine :d :d :d
There are still a few small things to do, but no major work.
I still got an error code of the Lambda sensor, but as I changed it already and the error code is still present, it might be due to a broken wire somewhere. need to check that
Wow decals look great. loving the number plate also.
best wheels for a nova imo
What box did you end up using and did the cable linkage work?
Gearbox is a F17/3.74 from an Astra G.
Yes, the cable linkage is working GREAT :d
Never experienced a shifting so precise and quick in a Corsa/Nova
