View Full Version : tyre question
has anyone got 205/50/15 tyres on there nova's and if so, whats the clearance like.
after some track tyres and these seem to be readily available but dont want to buy some if all i'm gonna get is scrubbage.
arches are rolled and lipped back, but other then that no arch work done at all.
thanks
ps, i think that they scrub hence why i am asking to double check
also interested in this :)
may not be much help but i had this size khumo's on a 60mm dropped corsa and it had no wheel arches hahaha
i had some ditchfinders in this size on gm wheels i bought ages ago on a standard nova for a week or so and they rubbed like hell on the inner arches on the back. sorry i've never had track tyres tho, i bet the profiles are different.

Sean, i would say if you have rolled arches, and then a 5mm spacer you might get away with it, but you also might need to bottle jack the arch/wing out slightly, as 195 on slick/smi's is quite wide and give some issues on coilovers etc, think it's due to them being 50's so they "bulge" in a higher place, if that makes sense?
I'd say 205/50/15 would be a little to high and a little wide possibly 205/45/15 would be a beter option
i did think they would rub, i remember chris t smashing his inner arch's in at lladlow track day. they must have been 205 width. guess i'll ignore that size and keep looking.
Yea best size I found to be and plenty of clearance and enough grip was 185/55/15 much the same Hight as 195/50/15 but just a tad narrower and seemed fairly sweet on it I had dunlop which were a little skiddy and bridgestone which were excellent grip like sh1t to a blanket
Even 190 track tyres run quite tight on a nova's arches. So id say you would definitely get rubbage on 205s. I THINK Olly H ran some at one point, but he took a jack to the arches to widen them iirc.
