right... there is a huge urban problem.. there are loads of youths with no intention of doing daily work.. they get by on petty crime & dole handouts. then every twenty or so years, something like this happens & boom!! riot time again... unfortunately, the police get branded as racists because of the unfortunate statistic that if a lot of petty street crime is commited by a certain ethnic, so that is the group they target. its simple statistics, but there are a lot of firebrand 'community leaders' who think that even though less crime is commited by other different ethnic groups, the police should leave their community alone... & these days, someone who does something horrific & stupid, Raoul Moat etc, gets followed on facebook like some modern day robin hood, and then these idiots pour onto the street to se what trouble they can cause.

Im 17, i left school last year & me and my mate who works for his dads garage are the only TWO that have jobs from our whole year group at school. majority literally do nothing all day, barely any of them did well enough for further education so things like this happen. The boy who used to bully me go banged up last week for robbing the local block busters with a samurai sword, what is england coming too....

i live in romford, kicked off here. the initial reason for the rioting has been completely overlooked now and its just gangs having an excuse to cause sh1t. it can only get worse and is going to spread, just influencing more people to get involved and join in. this country is falling apart. got on the news now and its absolutely shocking, genuinely shocked as to how out of hand this has got. As i said, excuses now to cause ****. I have been so shocked by the reports being shown on the telly. It is mindless pure ans simple. And personally, if anyone says oh the police need to get their act together or they are not doing enough then they can get to fcuk too. Obviously i have a biased view but i get to see what effort goes into even minor asb let alone full scale riots. I think the police are doing absolutely everything they can under the circs. I hope this all calms down today anyway, its sad to watch.

Well i actually agree with you on that. The police have got their hands tied and i think its terrible that cuts to front line officers are being made. I think they should be taking a more hard lined approach but again its all red tape and legislation. Correct me if im wrong but i dont think those water canon vehicles are even licensed in england so i dont think they can be used. Sorry if i sounded ranty but ive just heard lots of people slagging off the police and it made me mad. We have had people phoning us in dorset to complain about officers or lack of them in london. I just hope that something positive comes out of all this. More police on the street, renewed community spirit against the criminals or something like that.

I do agree in a way. There is only so much the police can do and there are only some many places they can be in. But at the same time I know that if I was in that situation and my business was going up in flames or my property was being damaged and I couldn't get any help from the police, i'd be a bit peeved too.

Mate I was in Birmingham city centre just before 8am this morning.....
So many empty streets with nothing but burned out bins & white vans boarding windows. It would be an admittance that the ruling party/PM can't control the country - it'd be political suicide lol Also, TA? I highly doubt they're trained in crowd control, even some of the regs I've talked to about it say the army would just make things worse.
The police just need to beef up, pen the rioters in and nick them all. I did hear all the police station lockups in London are full, well in that case zip 'em and sit them down in the street til there's room lol

A little chav from Mancland was interviewed this morning on radio 1, he basically said he would keep doing it till he gets caught because it would be his first offence and would just get a slap on the wrist. He also said his family knew but all they would do is shout at him so he wasn't worried about them. These people are pond scum!
