when i done my head gasket not long ago i didnt skim the head. now there is oil leaking from the exact same point and i'm losing small amounts of water. so i assume that the head needs skimmed. is it worth doing this or is it easier just to get a new head ?

which option is cheapest?

skim it, I bought my carwith a head gasket gone, it had gone for such a long time, that it had made a huge groove in between 2 cylidinder cut outs in the head, got the head welded and skimmed for ?60, just the skimming wud of been about ?20 i think

Skim. Cost me ?25 to get the head skimmed and chemically cleaned. If you get another head of another car you should skim it anyway before you put it on your car. Plus a skimmed head will have ever so slightly better compression.
