View Full Version : Fitting Bucket Seats
Over the next few days im going to be trial fitting my seat in the car before it gets painted inside.
how is the best way of removing the oe seat runners as i need to weld in some bars for the bucket seat to fit to.
pics would be a great help.

Be very patient with a handful of spot weld drills and a grinder
As above spot weld drillbits, it's a nightmare though as they're such thick metal compared to the floor. Sometimes easier just to grind it off and leave the bottom part still attached to the floor, but not ideal for looks/weight.
Pretty much as whats said above really, spot weld drills & a grinder.
Have a nosey at the below (in a Corsa but same thing):

If your using these type flat pack CDS bars youll also need a 25mm core cutter

Never assume using a spirit level means the seat bars will be level, as if the car is unlevel to start with, once youve welded them in theyll be on the piss.
Slide your new seat bars into the 25mm dia holes youve made in the syll side & trans tunnel side, drop a seat on, work out where you want seat in relation to door/gearstick, and weld away.
