Many may decide not to read this thread as I am not responsible for the build and buying one may, in some eyes, breaks the cardinal rule. Nevertherless, after 18 months of neglect, in my eyes, it will be restored and if at all possible, improved upon.
When i got it delivered by Colin, in all honesty, it had weathered the last 2 years fairly well. I did no more than MOT, Tax and insure it. The plan was to tuck it away for at least 12 months but after taxing it decide to use it a bit and even took it to Billing to be re-united with its previous owner.
Nick was aware that I had got hold of it and has very kindly offered as much advice\help as he could. Cheers Nick.
After billing i've used it a bit, the idea is to assess what needs sorting. The carbs are in need of a strip\clean and re-tune but the run to and from Billing was amazingly smooth.
Things were\are stiff, brakes in particular, steering, gearchanges etc but as i used it a little, have improved. The digidash speedo even started randomly working:eek:
I spent the last couple of days under the car cleaning the filth up, pics below. The fitment of Gaz coilovers has caused an issue on the rear chassis:(
before cleaning - note damage to paint

What a shame it went to waste, glad you've got your hands on it Jeff it's allllllll good :)
Love this motor.
Hi Jeff, Glad to see you have a thread up so I can watch the progress you make! As Ive told you previously I was rather dissapointed at its condition after all my efforts over the years. However at least its nothing a damn good clean/polish and general tart up wont sort. Id get the hammer out and tap back where needed so you can fit the coilover springs etc. The arches were painted with hammerite smooth so could easily be minted up again with a few coats by yourself. I'll be watching with anticipation! Looking forward to seeing it next year after you've had some time with it and any help you need feel free to give me a call. :)
Nick.

Looks as if she is in good hands, be good to see her back at her best/better, never hankered after a 2.0 16V, but this is one I would have made an exception for!;)
Nice to see such a well built nova back in good hands
Im amazed that after spending so much cash on a nova the previous owner left it to deteriorate for 2 years  outside as well ?
Who is 'redstig' then ? lol as the user made out he bought it ?
Whats been rubbing there tho? The shock is no where near.. of is it the wheel rubbing? Nothing a tap back wouldnt fix them simpley repaint that small bit.

that's what I was thinking?
also cant believe that some people would let it waste away like that , more money then sense haha
glad that it will be getting sorted now though Jeff :thumb:

Hey Nick, I'm glad it was only hammerite, makes sorting it out easier, I presume you lacquered over it as well?? Is there a way of hammering without doing loads of damage? plastic hammer etc...?

Drooled over thsi car many times, she sounds fantastic on carbs unlike my LET goes in a straight line, LOL

Cheers Edd, I was gobsmacked at the initial price it went up for as were most, they got bored after about six months and I guess two years later just wanted the drive space back.
Redstig was a bit of fun about the car falling into chav hands. :)

Nice nice nice!!!
Some guys have all the luck! If these were my cars I would swap the Speedlines every week just for fun and to annoy my neighbours... lol
Copper hammer, or put a bit of wood on it and hammer the wood.

Having two is great for trying things out like changes wheel colours, engine details etc..
Cheers Benn, I was watching american chopper last night and noticed them battering metal with a moulded hammer last night.
I'll borrow the GAZ setup off the rear of the black one as I never got the rear coily springs with it.

Strange things happened to this car over the two years, the suspension was considered too hard so binned for coilovers, then the rear rubbed to the coilovers springs came off and 120mm apex springs went on but with no spring seats on the body or beam. It had 1 leather glove as a spring seat!!!!
It will get decked again, but was put up for Mot, inspection and repairs/repainting.

Well the summer is approaching and I've got a little
Bit of time and favourable weather so time to do a few bits
I got a carbon wiper backplate from Edd to
Replacing the one that went missing.....!
The wiper motor that came with it had also been changed for sime reason, so time to strip, sand and start on the wiper bits

Primered
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee77/gsijeff/19798a71.jpg
I'll flat the Primer and lay another coat on then re flat before choosing a colour.
Most black bits on the car are metallic black but I don't know whether to just do
Normal black or something metallic
Opinions?

a little update...
i lost the storage space that HUA was hiding in so i was given very little notice that it had to move, i had no choice but to insure, MOT and tax it. This has prompted the spring clean. lots of chromed bolts are showing a breakdown of the plating and i've removed all of these and re-buffed them to asssess the chrome plating breakdown,
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee77/gsijeff/80553AD2-71A8-4CBB-9627-625EC5E5CD98-16171-00000478759F4138_zps2f7c99b8.jpg

the same can be said of the chrome door locks, headlight bolts and a few others. The plan is to get another set of bolts and locks and have them all chromed as a replacement set, once they are on i'll get the orginals re done and have them as a spare set or put them on the black turbo. The bonnet stay has also been cleaned and polished to bring it back up.

header tank off, silicones cleaned, jubilee clips polished, tank buffed and re-fitted - the header will need to be re-done by a polisher with more grunt as my one is rubbish and doesn't generate enough heat or force.
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee77/gsijeff/65487EDF-01BE-4B56-949B-5EADD2FEE5CD-16171-000004788485990F_zpse9a3f77d.jpg

ive found a company round the corner that provide shot blasting and the plan is to take the tie bars, bottom arms, rear beam and possible the gearbox off and get them blasted and powdercoated. i've also got some bearing topmounts from comp brake that i was going to put on the black one but given they are black, would look great on HUA.
The fearless brace that of got off Nick a few years ago and has been on the turbo may also be re-united with HUA.
