Hi there,

I have started to restore my gte, but obviously I have come to a quick halt when it comes to finding panels.

I have read some of the work in progress theads with resorations and I am amazed at what people have found, genuine panels!

What I really want is to cut out of another vehicle a complete boot floor with rear chassis legs and rear panel in one peice. But I will make do with just a pair of legs. Does anyone know of a shell with an ok back end that they want rid or even a complete car?

If not I will just have to make something up. (I really dont want to do)

Also a pair of quarter panels, would like genuine really.

Heres hoping!
Mark

If there was ever a case of new ones needed, I think this would be it.

If the back end's in that state i think you might need a few more panels than you're currently after lol

See my for sale thread for genuine quarters though

Ok, thanks, will have a look.

Tbh the rest isnt too bad, a new front panel, tidy up of the front inner wings and legs and a pair of sills will see it nearly there, along with a bit of rebuilding of the inner panels.

I just want to go through the car one bit at a time. :-)

Sh!t the bed mate, thats the worst rear legs I have seen. If the legs are that bad the floor will need replacing as you have nothing to weld to.

Also the rear inner arch, possabily the inner sills too,

check a thread in the articles section " how to remove inner wings " there is a bit in it about rear chassis leg removal.

Don't think he has any problem removing them, they appear to have fallen off!

lol you pretty much guessed it!

I think Ill post a thread in the projects section.

I have now

I am a panel beater, so I am well used to working on vehicle restorations, this rust is relatively minor compared to what im used to. If i could only get the legs I was going to have the underside of the car shot blasted, mount the car on a spit and see whats left. The inner wings & sills I was going to make sections to cut & weld in, I dont want to make this car a collection of new panels and nothing of the origional car. Having said that it is unavoidable that some will need changing.

As for the floor, if I couldnt get one I was going to make up the sections to make it less like a collander. ;)

Sturge, thanks for the offer, you are just too far away from me.
