Windows will go up but not down?

Minor issue, windows will go up but not down, the drivers window went down on the switch with a bit of help and passenger wouldn't go down at all. When they are in the closed position the motor is definitely working as the lights dim when you try and close them but no joy on the down??? Are there separate fuses for up and down?

Don't think it's separate fuses, should both run off the black ign live going to the fusebox. Might be worth pulling the window off the mech and making sure the mechanism is going up and down freely

check there is both pos and neg to the motor. the polarity switches to make the motor either work up or down. sounds to me like there is a short/broken wire which is shorting to ground thus making it only work one way..

Thanks Iain i didnt think they wer on a seperate fuse it was just wierd how the dash dims when you try and put them up but not down, could be in need of some grease on the slider, funny how it went down with a bit oh help so prob the cause, door cards are riveted on though which is a ball ache!!!

could be knackered switch but funny its on both sides? same again with the +/- as it occurs on both sides!!
