Just a quick question.

What is the 0-60 in the 1.4 SR (1991)
and also are the 1.4 SRi's much quicker? (same age etc)

are they around the 10 second mark, or abit quicker?

Cheers

make sure you do it on a wednesday, at midday - the air is less dense (as its the exact middle of the week) so you'll save about 3hours on the time

as you can probably guess, most of png ridicule the 0-60 times of small engined novas.

the chances of ever actually needing to do 0-60 are remote to say the least. small engined novas are all about the handling.

If it's bog standard then about the 10 mark but with mods can cut a couple seconds off it

its all about 30 - 70 imo

Completely standard the SR is actually faster due to the SRi being strangled by the cat, decat it and the SRi will toast the SR all day long!

standard the sr is tiny bit faster to 60 than sri, but sri is a little better top end, but i guess that also depends on what gear box and if its CR and how good the engine is but hardly noticeable to be honest.

Actually youd be very surprised as i had my old mk2 SR up against a couple of local SRi's back in the day and it was noticably faster, pushing them along on the local dual carriageway, and or passing them when they ran out of steam:p

i guess it will be one of them things that will be hard to get answer, never know whats standard today or back in the day or if there good healthy engine, last SR i was in was better picking up but ran out of steam at 100/110 screaming it and used loads of fuel, my old SRI ran out at 120 but a mates struggled at 100, these where standard as far as we knew, but not often you get to them speeds anyway but roads round here how it handles is more important lol

There is no way a sr is quicker than a sri.

Sri is 10brake more than a SR even with the cat, and has a better engine. It will be quicker than a 1.4sr which is identical spec/weight wise

Out of the packet they are, the cat restricts the SRi badly and they get gradually left by the SR, it might have the fuel injected engine but the SRi was governed by emissions bollox so was set up for economy and emissions, as said ditch the cat and its a totally different story:thumb:

I cannot believe in 2011 theres an arguament over whats faster- an sr or sri FLOL lol lol lol

~10bhp when, all other things aside, the cars are pretty much the same is enough to make a difference. From the factory, an SRi should spank (well maybe not spank, but at least have the edge over lol) an SR. The catalytic converter may well throttle the engine, but its still 10hp up.

But we're talking cars that are, at their youngest, old enough to get their own driving license. You can't really compare two cars after a lifetime of unknowns.

If you're asking because you want to pick the "better" one to buy, simply get whichever is the best condition-per-price. Everything else can be changed.

tbh id be more impressed if you could find 2 novas of the same spec that performed similar when you take into account the hard life they would of had

Exactly how do you know the SRi wasn't low on power!
Its easy really, the same car but one has 10bhp more..
Stu's made 102bhp with out a cat and a pipercross filter!! and Sr would never see that sort of power with out some internal work!!

Because it was more than one car and they were both standard, one had a stainless powerflow and filter added a few months later and wasted my SR, but only once it was modded/cat removed:p

Doesnt matter about the cat, its still 10bhp up on the SR, the head is superb on the SRi, tripe on the SR, MPi not a carb, Ive had both, and without a shadow of a doubt the SRi would trounce the SR. The figures from factory IIRC where 82bhp/72bhp 10.0 secs/12.0 secs.

I had a 1.3 Sr back in the day with cam and stuff and was a nippy little thing had a 1.4 Sri a for a while aswell and wasn't a patch on the 1.3

even chuck norris gets nervous stomping on the loud pedal in an XE nova - as long as it has a GSi bumper and speedlines
