I need to sort out agreed value insurance for the Sport

Can people please give me some companies names that do this ?

Also who to avoid lol

What's involved ? Photos ? Receipts ? A letter from the club confirming value ?

Any help/experiences would be great

Please don't suggest Sky as they don't do it

Mine is on agreed value with Adrian Flux. Could only find them and HIC who would do it.

They require 6 photos of the car and a spec sheet etc and they then let you know if they agree with your valuation or what value they place on the car.

Only problem I can see is they don't do the agreed value part till you take the policy out so if they don't agree with your value you are a little stuck. They agreed with mine each year though.

Tbh I had a complete nightmare with Adrian Flux in the past

Ill see what HIC say, cheers

Same company as HIC now to be fair.

I thought Sky only offer it to existing customers - I've been offered it in the past.

Try Footman James and Graham Sykes; I seem to recall the latter gave me the option of agreed valuation although I didn't go through with the policy/quotation so no idea what the process is like.

I've never been with Sky so that rules me out

I'll give the others a try

Think is can I just add up the total cost of the build and get it agreed at the price ? Do I need someone to write a letter to confirm this ? As in the club ? or this not needed ?

I suppose it varies between companies ?

Fathering law used to have his classic cars insured with Peter Best, he used to always say they were good.

Sorry Edd, forgot to reply to yout text earlier.

I use RH insurance. £128 for the Sport, with renewal this year at exactly the same price. Was only £71 to add the Swing.

They were recommended to me by Royston.

Edd
18-07-11, 08:03 PM
No worries Rich

I'll give RH a ring tomorrow, by the sounds of it they will do the job

Don't hold your breath with Performance Direct...I'm still awaiting a callback from nearly 2 months ago :wtf: lol

Royston
19-07-11, 06:29 AM
Yes Edd, RH Insurance

All my cars are together through them, Vitesse & SR on the road, Sport off the road, all agreed value £297

Edd
19-07-11, 04:43 PM
Rich, Royston, I phoned RH insurance and they won't insure me :(

I think it may be due to the modifications the I gave them ???? roll cage, engine mods, wheels etc

......so the only place so far that will do it is HIC

has anyone else got any other suggestions of companies that might help ?

Edd

Unfortunately next to nowhere does an agreed value. When I last tried getting alternative quotes (been with HIC for years and years now) there were only a couple of companies who would do the value but then said they couldn't get even close to the HIC premium :tard:

Mind you when I rang Sky about my old VXR the guy almost fell off his chair when I told him what Admiral had quoted (fair price). They didn't even bother going any further lol

Let us know if you find any new insurers :thumb:

You'll strugle for agreed valuation as soon as you mention modifications... I had the Manta on a classic policy with agreed valuation with Lancaster, and they were brill. Add the mods, and they wont touch it, only places I found were HIC/Adrian Flux (although HIC were always cheaper...!?) and Competition Car Insurance. With HIC you get all the usual perks of track cover and 3rd part on other vehicles etc

Royston
19-07-11, 05:45 PM
My Sport has all the mods declared, but doesn't have a roll cage

They have my SCCR gearbox on there as a mod. Most likely the roll cage is your issue.

Not alot of places will insure a roll caged car

Try REIS if you are still struggling with the rollcage, they mainly cater for the motorsport based cars but I'm sure they also do limited mileage policies for specialist road cars

Edd
19-07-11, 10:06 PM
Southie, tried them and it's a no no

Rich, I'll try REIS

Most likely I'm going to go with HIC, they were very very helpful on the phone tbh, and the price seems good

This is something I will require for lucy.

However, what people have spent is very differant to what a car is worth.

Edd
20-07-11, 12:54 PM
True Matt but I've just added up the cost of the build and want it agreed at that amount

phazer
20-07-11, 07:46 PM
In that case you will struggle especially as it is modified. The agreed values are generally based on what you'd expect the going rate to be for that car in that condition on the open market.

Having said that I would imagine most who have it have a higher value than anyone on here is willing to pay given recent threads lol

I've had to supply receipts, new pictures to HIC each year. They ask you to rate the condition of all of the major components, provide a spec list and also state what work was done professionally - I imagine this work attracts a higher value than diy mods.

Same as me with Flux.

Also you will be lucky to get your car valued at what you have spent, mine is valued at 1/3 of what it has cost me!!

My bro is going through Allianz/Lancaster IIRC for the SR. They have asked for pictures of interior/exterior/engine bay plus descriptions stating whether it's A1/VGC/OK etc.

How much do you have your agreed for ?

How much should I try to get mine at ?

I was under the impression that you get it agreed at a price the would enable you to purchase/build simular if it were ever stolen, is this not the case then ?

£8k.

No idea on yours tbh, not that clued up on Sports or their values.

That is the theory behind agreed value but its made a lot more difficult when the cars in question are getting so hard to get parts cheap enough to build them for a sensible price. Pretty sure a few people on here had their values rejected as they went in at £12k or something ridiculous like that.

IMO, and im not being a c0ck here Edd, I'd say you would get around £5000 maybe £6000 for yours.

If you spend another £10k on it, I don't think it will add that much too it.

Its to stop people building posh cars, kicking funk out of them, stacking it, and just building another one.

phazer
21-07-11, 11:50 AM
I went in at what I thought would be fair (as I'm realistic), never tried for a ridiculous amount. The value on mine is less than the engine + components is worth to sell but ask an insurer what the book price is, even for a mint Nova and you'll have to accept that you're just covering a 'retail' value not a build value.

As Lee said, it's harder as parts become scarce as no-one really knows what a Nova is worth at the moment, some sell for peanuts and you wonder why, others for loads and people say it's too much.

Which brings me to the point of...has anybody ever had to claim and been paid out the agreed value????

Benn
22-07-11, 05:49 PM
Mines with HIC, same as Lee really. 6-8 photos, detailed spec list, cost of work and bits done. Any big bills can some times help. Anything over 5k and they like a local insurance asseser(spelling?) to come and look over the car.

Sky told me they only do it on concourse classic cars.

Right.. Ive got my mk1 on agreed classic with flux, as they were they only one's who would do agreed (although it's not the true value IMO)

Now the issue I'm having is i want to keep an agreed value FC cover policy, limited mileage etc, but add the missis who's just passed 18/7/11 but she's just turned 24, so i can have her on the car if i take a new policy with more th>n, but it's not worth it, as they wont do agreed, it's only £350 FC with her named driver, but they wont pay out no more then possibly the premium "if" anything should happen to the car..

So I'm struggling to get it insured with her on it, and keep agreed value of some sorts..
Pissed off is not the word.

Right Ive rang almost every single company i can find, including all listed in this thread, NONE will do agreed, or classic ppolicy'swith her on it as named driver, reasons are , 1. She's under 25, 2. She's just passed test/less then 1 years driving llicenseheld eetc 3. She dose not have her own insurance on her own policy.

So it looks like i will have to bite the bullet and cross my fingers nonothingappens to the car, and insure it with her on through More than.

Scott

becareful with flux's and agreed values they got me big style on this last year. Told me my policy was agreed for the cars modds should anything go wrong its a new for old policy etc (had the value set at £6.5k) then they told me after the policy ended it wasnt agreed and also the company I was insured with went bust while my policy was still running. And they pretty much screwed me over again this year and this will be the last year insured with them what a crap company

Slight bump, but related questions.

Edd, what sort of premium did you end up paying??

Benn/Lee H, same question really.

And what value did you quote.

I am looking to get mine insured soon. Will more than likley go with HIC as i have always been with them.

Im hoping that at 29 and with a child (that makes me more responsible right!?) they will look upon me favourably when quoting lol

I,m with HIC,

391 for the year with agreed value of 6k, wanted it higher but they wont do it

breakdown cover included lol

i do have a SP30 tho

tbh they were the only place that would touch me due to the cage

Clean lic, Full ncb (11 years) 29 at the time, great lovely postcode..

Mine was £480 fully comp on the yellow one last year with everything declared. I have 10 years ncb with a clean license and nice postcode. Also Agreed at 7k, I went for more but they wouldnt have it then but I guess another 3k in receipts since would have possibly seen them up the agreed valuation.

Mates insurance went up when he told them he had a child. Distraction in the car whilst driving was there reason for this.

Can see there point, how mant times do you follow somebody & there watching what the child is upto & not the road!

Very valid point. But not likely to have him in the car TBH!!! If he does start creating i always ask my misses to see to him if she is in the car, or if solo i pull over.
