bought a tigra cheap as chips, it needs afew things done to it and one of them being a rusty arch

apparently you cant get repair panels and i dont want to replace the full quarter

what i thought i could do it repair the inner arch which is easy enough and bend some metal i have lying around to fit round the lip, cut out the rust and use my joggler around the edge so i can get it as smooth as possible then grind of the welds and a skim of filler

any other ideas?

Go to a Scrapyard and cut out a suitable replacement section would be your best bet.

Thats a pretty small area to fix by the look of it. I would just weld in a new bit of metal from behind, hammer it into shape roughly and use some fibreglass filler on top to get the right shape.

thats what i was thinking as its not to keep its just to sell on

it will be easier to make up a patch and patch it then do an entire quarter!

When did Vauxhall start rust proofing their cars? If they have at all.

If they went the rust prevention route mk1 astras would still be solid and new car sales would drop.

and now we have this

gave it a quick sand and a blast over with primer, obviosuly needs more sanding and another light skim of filler

i had to repair the inner arch firstso i had a lip to weld to then slid another piece under the outer arch and welded that in
