I've just re-shelled my autotest car and am looking for further modifications...
I've heard of people converting their 4speed F10 box so that reverse is where second normally is and no other gears can be selected.
I know it's not something that many people would want but I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about it?
Cheers
would require a new gear selector mechanism on the gearbox as reverse and second are on separate forks

Yeah I reckon so, need to find someone who's already converted one and is willing to share their knowledge, I'm going to have a play about with it myself but it doesn't seem like the simplest of mods

If i think back to me building mine, i think it would be quite hard to have reverse where second is due to the position of the reverse idler gear.
simply fiddling with the selector forks must be the best way to do it.
Its all to do with the gears, the easiest way i can explain it is take every think out the cluster put 1st/reverse gears in but upside down.
Ive got some footage of me at an event using the box http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7FT8BbzoHNw
but you would need a complete custom gear set doing that.
like i said, machining a new selector would be way easier.
Not as easy as just maching a new selector.
We spent many months on development and used many a gearbox till we got this right,
We had to machine the gears and also the selector.
