hi i have put a nova gsi engine in a 1.2i shell ive had it running but it runs like a bag of nails all been timed up corectly any idears

Do you know for a fact that it was running ok in the car it came out of?

i saw a video of it running i have used the in tank fuel pump

have you connected all the earths and made sure the connections are good? alot of faults come from the gearbox earth, did you service it before fitting it?

check the air intake flexi pipe they split. check the spark plugs.

'The in tank fuel pump' meaning the correct uprated MPI one and not the SPI one?

There's an earth braid from the gearbox to the earth point on the passenger chassis leg fitted to all Novas.

oh that one yes ive put that on its the 1 that would have been in the 1.2

If you have kept the cars original (1.2) fuel pump, it is not suitable for that engine.

Tbh forum diagnosis is not likely to fix the car, might be worth getting a mechanic to have a listen/quick look. All the above worth checking, but your original description of 'a bag of nails' doesnt help us much.

Definitely worth changing the pump to the mpi one, if you're using the 1.2 pump
