c20xe over reving

Right my nova was idling all over the place changed the idle control valve which btw is a crappy job, but now revs at about 2000 rpm will occasionally drop to 1000 but will creep back up, have I just bought a broken idle control valve or will the problem he some where else like the afm?

sounds like an air leak !!
spray around all connections including inlet manifold gaskets with arb cleaner with the engine running !
The engine should change tone if there is a problem

Don't no why but I assumed it wasn't a air leak because it was a constant idle of 2k and not jumping all over the place

your not having much luck at the min are you lol, as said could be a air leak , most prob after the AFM ,

could be a dodgy AFM or idle control valve , to check if the idle control valve is ok , park up with handbreak on , stick car in 3rd or 4th and start lifting the clutch , just as you feel the car goin to die , press clutch in , should rev up but then drop back down to normal

if not, got spares of both :thumb:
