installing dash speakers in a mk1...URGENT!

iv got the old speaker out on the drivers side but i cant get the new speaker in cos the f'n air vent gets in the way! :evil: does ANY1 know how to remove the air vent or get the speaker in another way??
any help would be really appreciated

When i put my speakers in the front i had to cut out the speaker grills coz the speaker was longer than the standard one check this out it may not be the airvent.

The Mk1 is a nightmare. I simply didn't bother 'til the Mk2 dash went in. Now I have speakers in the doors with plenty of sound deadening, works a treat.
