Chasing a Volvo 440

Yesterday i was in my 1.2 nova with my m8's when we soptted a volvo 440 with a guy that owed me money...

so as he quicly drove off in his volvo.. we chassed him.

my car was full 3 in the bach and 1 in the passenger seat... he only had 2 passengers..

up and round.. then he decided to rip down an A road.. 1/2 way down he stampped his brakes trying to get me to run into the back of him.. but he locked up and skidded smashing into the kerb fekking his wheel up

( thank you vented cav brakes and 195 tyres :D )

he then u turned so i hand braked round 180 to follow and was up his ass the whole way round the town down the high street.

we wanted him to stop at a red light... but the were all FEKKING GREEN FFS

he then decided to go down the m5 j1 slip road towards the m6..

and he floored it... i now though he might pull away... but alas he didnt.. i was up his ass untill 110 when he backed off back down to 70 ( prolly cause his wheel was gonna fall off.... lol )

followed for a few mins... but decided i didnt wanna goto london so i jumpped off the next exit and came back home...

but that got me thinking... what kind of power is the volvo 440 pushing, if my little 1.2 nova which was completely full was up his ass and pushing him to go faster?!

thing is tho...

on parkers it says the that volvo has a 0-60 time of

12.7 for the 1.6
and
12 for the 1.8

so wither my nova is pretty dam fast... or that volvo was takin 14 secs to get to 60 ... hmmpff

your 1.2 nova would take more like 20-25 seconds to 60 fully loaded.
are you 100% sure he was actually driving as hard as he could? coz if he was - damn impressive mate...

Plus there are other factors to take into account.

Such as the state of his engine and etc.

i used to have a 440 and kno for a fact if he wanted to he would leave u standin i kno they dont look much but they go well enough ive also got a 1.2 nova a kno how slow they are compaired to the 440 so either his car is fooked or he wasnt really trying and no offence but knobs like u and him that drive on the road like u saay u did shouldnt b aloud on the road at all

im sure that in a front wheel drive car the only way in which u can power slide it is if ur going backwards cos if ur going forwards and ur turnign and the wheels are spinnin then u are gonna keep going forwards and if u pulled the handbrake at 50 to try and spin it 180 i bet u would loose it im sorry but u r proving urself to b a bigger prick than i first thought

i drive @ the limit almost all the time... and only show off sometimes..

car gets looked after and tyres rotated reguraly..

also change oil and filter every 4k..

i dont do this stuff all the time..

but the chances of anyone in here driving everywhere at the speed limit is somewhere between slim and nil

people who actaully drive at the speed limit (especially in 30-50 zones) these days are normally old folk who can barley see the road or learners who have to or get their balls chewed by the instructor

just that its a rare circumstance to see someone drive at the speed limit even 50% of the time

just going back for a moment or two to the comments about losing control of the car if handbrake turning at 50mph+...

this is not the case, what would actually happen, even with 5 people in the car is that you would simply roll the car over onto its roof. and YES, it would happen even on a wet road.

I tried it at 45mph on gravel in a deserted car park once and had the car on two wheels and it very nearly went over ... not because i dont know what i am doing - but becuase of the speed i was travelling at.

own merry hil was down that loooooong straight road that goes downhill...

if u come out of merry hill by carphone warehouse, ,then go leaft at the lights... u then wait at the next set of lights for some prey...

this road is V long.. and no side roads come into it at all.. visibility is pefect all the way down and thee 2 lanes.. its completely safe to do it there.

and we cant ALL afford trtack days...

petrol to get there, petrol to race thee, food, petrol to come home.. bloody hell thats well over 100 quid just to have a race... cheaper to stick 5 quid in and go down merry hill

nova modder. i dont personally doubt you thrash your car on the odd occasion, with mates in.

you need to accept that the 1.2 nova is dog slow with an air filter and peco especially being stated as the 'mods'

a fiat panda can be wound up to go 80mph+ eventually, the measure ofa fast car is how quick it gets there!

if you ever make to something quite quick like a fiesta xr2i or a gte or gsi youll probably find that on average your driving slows down under normal circumstances as you have nothing to prove, whereas in the 1.2 a mondeo diesel could spunk its load in your face quite easily

when was the last time you saw a BMW M3 being floored past mcdonalds in pursuit of standard family saloon cars

i got 113 outta my 1.2 once, on a sligh downhill section of the M1 between sheffield and leeds. Only me in the car though - and it took about 25 minutes to get up to that sorta speed.
