in my A Level Electronics Lesson today we made some homemade amps.. and i was really really impressed.

They powered a big huge 40w hif-fi speaker that was running out of a walkman. Without the amp, the walkman hardly had enough juice to make the speaker go, without insanely bad distortion.

The gain was about 5, and the impedance was very good, so the input signal was being dragged down, although it could have been due to the matching impedance of the cd player and amp. might effect a head unit differently.

Im gonna try lashing one in series with each of my front standard speakers, see what difference they make, hopefully it should give them a nice kick in the arse, save me replacing them. Each amp is free for me, about ?90p worth of components, although i'l have to wokr on the connections, as it was running on Jacks.

I'l try it out, if it works i'l post a diagram for everyone. !

Dunno about fire hazads ? or any effects to other stereo equipment, maybe fuse it or make a circuit breaker for it.

I had a friend who made a homemade amp for his home (from his mixer to some speakers) and that rocked. I bet that the principles for a car would be the same?
