I know there are about 30 milion topics in the forum about this.

Gonna try attempt mine this weekend. Has anyone done this themselves succesfully.

I've heard the following

use a Hair dryer
use hot water and fishing line
Use boiling water
Just rip em off

I can't afford for ANY paint to come of with the stip. What's the best way of doing it.. i reckon probably flooding it with hot water, then lashing a hair dryer out and slowly peeling it off.

What's the best way to remove the foamy gluey shit afterwards ?

how old is the car?? when you remove them you will propabally be able to see where the strips were cos the paint on the car will have faded and under the strips the paint will be as new cos its never been exposed. remove the one on the wing first with a heat hun and a credit card or fishin line or somethin to see if theres gonna be any contrast between the old paint and the paint that uve just exposed if it looks ok then take the rest off the same way then use some tar and glue remover to get the crap off. if when you take the 1 off the wing you dont like what you see then put it back on wih some good d/sided tape.

good luck

Is there anyone who has had regrets on taking the bump strips off?

My mate did his white 14sr and hes quite annoyed with the outcome even though he took advise on what to do. Ive considered doing mine but after having removed a tiny bit to fit the side skirts ive thought twice about the whole thing.

I assume this is the same as them all, but i had like a metal plate underneath the bump strip itself which was a right ball ache to remove.

I used hot water to get the rubstrip off and then used celulose(spellin) thinner to get the glue off, its alot of effort

YEP!! I took the little one off to start with by the diver side rear arche and it took all the paint off!! It was almost flapping about falling off anyway so i gave it a helping hand! Gonna sort it with my arch and put it back on.

Took mine off few months ago. Jus used a hairdrier and pulled them off. All came off straight away except for left hand wing which ripped paint off, but that was only because I did'nt have the hairdrier on long enough. Then used petrol to get all of the glue which was left behind. Paint was in canny good condition so a cud T-Cut it and it loooked like new. Got it painted soon after anyway. :o

i tryied a diferent technique for each part of my bump strip, i found hot water and hair dryer was the best option, i also used solvents on some it but this just made the adhesive soggy and hard to remove.

i went abit manly on the door...and the paint DOES come off. i wasnt that bothered as i am doing a full re-spray neway.
