One of my mates is tryin to sell me a vauxhall F40 gearbox out of an astra gte 2.0L 16v. Is there such thing as an F40 gearbox? Ive never heard of one of these before. If there is such thing, are they any good? My mate said they are very rare and very close ratio.

Is the F20 a good gearbox? If so, whats so good about it? Does the F20 gearbox usually come as standard in astra gte's? Is it close ratio?

Also, ive been offered a 2.0L 16v red top engine out of an astra gte, its been in a front end crash and the radiator got smashed. The engine "looks" ok to me, except the inlet manifold is cracked. Do you think it would be worth buying or not?

not worth buying unless it can
1. run
2. be heard runing
3. if not runing be seen spripped to see whats damaged.

So probably not worth buying.
And the F20 is only of use to you if you have a big block engine,ie. 2L or 1.8L
