hi guys hope you can help me with some issues with my xe engine, its going in a nova
here are some pics and questions:

Firstly is this just earthed to the car, dont know what it is!!!!!

Im confused by all the vacuum pipes on the inlet, havent a clue where they go, see pic
im missing a pipe and dont know where it goes:(

The biggest problem is take a look at my alternator bracket, the alternator i have doesnt fit this bracket or im dumb, can anyone advise me on what alternator and top bracket i needhttp://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h455/Mark_McGivern/IMG_0355.jpg

Top is knock sensor and bolts to the back of the block

That sensor is the knock sensor, it bolts to the block just above the starter. You need an early xe alternator and top bracket for single v alternator. The sensor looks like it's for the fuel tank vent valve, blank it off.

Mark the top pic is the knock sensor it bolts halfway down the back of the block mate with a 13mm nut hbut dont over tighten it as is crystal.

Second pic is the tank vent valve iirc just block the pipe that comes from the throttle body to it butr leave it plugged in.

Third pic, is the bottom alternator bracket you need a single vee alternator and the XE top sliding bracket as the alternator youve shown is either a later type one or the wrong one.

what about this plug??
also do many of you use the oil level sensor on the sump? or just cut the lead off?

Thats switched live for the loom. You should have a black wire on the Nova loom near the wiper motor that you connect to that wire.

Cut the oil level sensor plug off.

Lol was on about the oil sender matey though it were the same wire tbh.
