You join in the WSS_2k3 (wisewood stops smoking 2003) event at the start of Full Day Three.
Saturday night (28/06/2003) at 22:30 was the last cigarette I smoked.
Sunday was easy, a few little irritations but nothing too serious - my body didnt really notice that I was quickly using up my nicotine reserves.
Monday was quite a pleasant surprise - my day at work was much less stressful than I thought it would be, and I even managed to refuse a smoke from someone else and told her "No thanks, I am quitting!".
Actually now I think about two people offered... wow I did better than i thought!
Monday night was a bit of a nightmare really - everything was irritating me, really winding me up! Ended up fitting new taps onto the kitchen sink and having very little room to work behind the sink stressed me out and me and ended up arguing with the other half - entirely my fault... sorted it out and made up soon after.
So there you go - you are now up to date - all that is left to say is that I have awoken this morning and got to work and feel fine, no real cravings yet. :D
Join us next time for the next installment of WSS_2k3!

after about a week you won't even notice the cravings
RUBBISH!!!
My dad used hypnotherapy to stop from 30 a day over 15 years ago, and he still has cravings now.
I have stopped smoking before. It is different for everyone... the cravings arent the problem for me so much as the missing it from my hand... have to carry a pen around to twiddle around my fingers
Also because cigs contain so much carbon monoxide they make you less energetic without you realising it - so last night I was being a bit giddy and agitated as i had more energy than usual and was bored.
Tis good though - Its been a good few years since I last tried to stop and this time I actually want to, not like before when i just tried to stop coz i thought i should.

it was in the news this morning that its something to do with your genes (not levis or wranglers)

I just remembered - I asked my mum to fetch me a load of cigs back from Tenerife!!! :o
ARSE!
think of it as money so you can flog them on!
wise keep it up
you will notice you have more energy an loads more money
also think of the damage you'll save to your lungs

also think of the damage you'll save to your lungs
couldnt care less about that - i just want the extra money and the missus to stop calling me her "little chimney"
that's what everyone thinks then when they contract lung cancer an are dying they think back to: why did i start?
i've lost people close to me through smoking. seeing what it does to someone layin in a hospital bed being given medication to thin their blood because they have multiple blood clots is the biggest advert to stop/never start you could ever see.
i know this is me ranting over nothing but i'm sorry, this is a subject that i feel strongly against as have seen the bad side to it, the side that most people don't see until it's too late.
or is she jsut referring to you having a little chimeny?? lol
keep up the good work.
my dad tried to quite with the patches, he wound up spending double on the patches as he had to get the stongest ones, and the didnt work lol
atleast hes on the "mild" cigars now.
sell the foreign fags job done profit from quitting

Know what you mean mate - cancer finished off my grandmother who was like a mum to me - used to live with her...
She contracted lung cancer from smoking, which was sorted out and then she got breast caner, which was also sorted out - then she got really ill and wouldnt go to the doctor as she was worried it would be cancer again and by the time she did go she was riddled with it - she had pretty much every cancer its possible for a woman to have.
She lasted about another 2 weeks.
We later found out that for the 2 weeks she was in hospital, basically sat there waiting for her death - she was not being given the correct pain killers and as such would have been in quite alot of pain!!!
I was VERY not happy about it.
However, the way i look at it is this, everyone has to live their own life - my grandmother started smoking at 14 and smoked 20 per day until she was 70 when she stopped. She then lived to be 83.
That is one of the reasons I am trying to stop this time, death doesnt bother me... everyone dies - lonliness scares me more than death, outliving my own kids, friends and family etc.
I wanna stop because if a member of your immediate family contracts cancer you then have a one in three chance of contracting it, because your gene pool is proven to be suseptable to it... on in three is a much greater chance than most people.

yupp - everybody dies... and to be honest i would rather die sooner than later, one thing i fear is living to be 127 or something stupid and outliving my kids and grandkids.

Personally i think that they put something in cigs these days to actualy deliberatly increase your chances of cancer as a way to control the population growth.
Older generations seem to live much longer having smoked 40, 50 or even 60 per day for most of their lives.
ooooooh a conspiricy theory ;) i like it

you cant tell someone to stop ROb - its only possible to stop if you wanna stop. Right now i wanna stop - so i am doing while i have the inclination to do so.

Here we are at the start of Day 4.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday have all passed by without me even touching a cigarette... Things are looking good so far.
:D
Last night was a bit difficult - went to pizza hut, stuffed myself full of stuffed crust pizza and pepsi and came out REALLY wanting a smoke, so i ignored it, made myself busy for half an hour and was fine :D :D
you feel any better for it nat?
yup a little
Do you like the Chancellor? No? Then why the fook are you buying things that give him ???'s and just end up being burnt?
Whats stopping you from doing stuff to your car, going on that cool holiday etc? Why are you burning money then?
Do you take pride in damaging other peoples health - little kids ( maybe yours in future)?
Why do you light things that pollute as badly as cigs do then?
Do think that the waiting list situations are bad in the NHS and that medical services are over stretched and under resourced? Why the hell do you deliberately injure yourself which will necessitate expensive medical attention taking away resources from people who cant help being ill?
Those were the questions I asked myself - doesnt take much figuring and I soon gave up. I started when I was 13 when I thought I could be cool with the rude boys - how stoopid!

I started when I was 13 when I thought I could be cool with the rude boys - how stoopid!
Me too!
not to bee cool though, i dont really know why i did to be honest.
It's all the fault of Gary Day though  little fcuker he was, he made me try one first - and yes he did make me, he pinned me on the floor along with Tony Astle and wouldnt let me breath until i tried it
Bastards they are!!
Anyway, I am now on day 9 :D
everything is going according to plan.
On friday night i went to see my mate and having missed his g/f's 21st a couple of weeks back i bought her 20 cigs to make up for it
not only did i manage to not smoke any of them but i was in a room with them all night and she smoked about 5 or in that time and it didnt bother me in the slightest :D :D :D
Charles mate - how long ago did you quit?
