to quote Bart Simpson

Feck ARSE!

Thats more than the average nova's worth!

You need to shop about a bit more or have you and thats the best there is!

(feels embarassed to work in insurance  )

TDI cannae be that expensive surely?

TBH the amount your paying prob find it wont increase it that much. Give it a shot - see who silly the quote is they give you!

Worth a laugh (as in you laughing at them for the silly quote)

the cheapest quote i had so far and i tried loads of places is Diamond womens only insurance and that was ?1800
Its because i am only 17

I know a lad who has just bought a TDI and he is about my age and his best quote was ?2000 and he is fcuking paying it!

Ben (lurk75)

i wouldnt pay that to insure a cosworth, you are obviously saying all the wrong things to them on the phone.

I would but a fiat uno!

linzTDI
02-07-03, 04:52 PM
no those are online quotes for a k reg not modifyed nova 1.5 TD merit 3 door hatch back, third party only!

you go on and try pretending you are a girl trying to insure that and you will see

Ben (lurk75)
02-07-03, 05:06 PM
Cheapest online quote i got for the golf was over ?1200 but i only pay ?750ish, thrid party only is normally more than 3rd party fire and theft.

My girlfriends GTE is only ?650 fully comp and she has only just passed her test and lives in a very high crime area with no no claims etc.

ade
02-07-03, 10:56 PM
?2k for TBO!

:o

Whats the point!

You may as well sell the nova on trade in and get a cheapy seat or fiat or summut with 1 yrs free insurance - or even take the nova off the road and get a new car.

Whats the point in being able to pass yer test at 17 if the average person at that age cannae afford to insure their car?

Its a Joke - its not like the tests even easy any more!?

I didnt pass my test till I was 27 - so I automatically qualifies for reduction. My 1st quote with Kwik Fit 6 yrs ago was ?330!

(soon jumped though after I hit a royal mail van side on and some woman drove into the side of me and did a runner in the space of 12 mnths  )

Ben (lurk75)

I was 18 when i bought a nova GSi and the insurance was only ?890.

Will
03-07-03, 10:21 AM
insurance prices for young drivers are rubbish, but they are on the increase for various reasons

1. young drivers crashing due to lack of experience and the fact some catn drive, causing more ?s in claims and higher premiums

2. All these legal claims for "whip lash" and the bollocks, yippie u get 2k for whiplash, doh every1s policys increase by an average of 5-10% or wotever

:(

When i was 17 it was ?700 for a 1.2 nova or ?950 for an SR as a guide for myself, now ppl seem to be paying double that and we are only talking 3 yrs later :o

Just been trying to get my mate insurance on a 1.3 1998 fiesta (yes ford i know, lol) hes 19, licence 2 yrs, 1st car, 1st insurance etc:

cudnt get it for less than 2 grand, one company (CIS) wanted 3,650, lmfao, i got him a price of ?1340 in the end, still madness IMO

Will

03-07-03, 10:33 AM
when i was 18 i got my first policy for a 13sr and it was just over ?500 tpft in my own name, that was with cis all the other insurance companies were well over a grand. now im almost 21 and struggle to get quotes much lower for only a 1.2 :(

jkhilton
03-07-03, 11:27 AM
I went through Autotrader the other week when I was looking to buy another car and basically just did insurance quotes for any type of car under 2k. There were things like calibras, rs turbos etc etc. but in the end I went for a Renault Megane 1.6 RT, the insurance is only ?400/year fully comp. The car itself is very dull and not much fun to drive, but it uses virtually no petrol and has electric everything and is around 90-100bhp, so it is comfy for motorway driving.

this is only a temp car until I can get my next car imported and built!! ;) Jim, shhhhhhhhhhhh....

try getting a qoute for fully comp, it has always ben cheaper for me as fully comp, not sure how they work that out

my 1st car nova 1.2 was ?1200 3pft or ?750 fully comp :-//

and the nova TDi is like grp 8 higher than an sri :s

iv been getting qoutes of ?550-?600 online for myself with 0ncbs cuz i will need to start a new policy off for it, but the again im 22 with 4 years exp

bish
03-07-03, 12:51 PM
yeah it is,i payed a grand for insurance on a gte and then after the 10month ploicy was up i went to go with another company with a differrent car and they didnt accept the years no claims,i think they are just trying to con ppl to stay with them, they are cheap enough but i couldnt afford to keep paying a full years up front

Ben (lurk75)
03-07-03, 05:16 PM
Yes they do normal insurance as well, the acclerator policies are daft as yes they are cheaper but you get less insurance (10 months).

Online quotes are a complete waste of time! much better ringing up.

Another point, Elephant are a part of Admiral so if you do take there acclerator policy the following companies will recognise it...

Elephant
Admiral
17-40
Diamond

There are also a few more trading under Admirals name.
